barry petersen is on the fire line tonight. barry? >> reporter: good evening, scott. well, thousands are evacuated and the fire is still zero percent contained. the local sheriff's office has launched an investigation into the cause of this fire. investigators are focusing on whether there's a link to a controlled burn done in this area last thursday. the controlled burn is intentionally set as a way to reduce dead wood and cut fire danger. officials say the burn was closely monitored, with wind gusts that hit 90 miles per hour yesterday it's possible some still burning embers got loose. it's an area of expensive homes, but the rugged terrain also makes it tougher for firefighters struggling to reach hot spots. for the thousands of evacuees like mary warren, there was little time to decide what to take. >> we had our kids and we had our animals. and it was we had each other, and nothing else matters. >> reporter: officials here at the command center, scott, say they have just told another six families to be on alert, they may have to get out at a moment's notice. >> p
