this is barry toronto. on the theme of giving tuesday, you're giving 10.2, you're giving a contractor a lot more money to contract extension to perform extra items in the contract. how about giving the city of san francisco, the citizens along van ness avenue a better idea of how much longer the project is going to be. i think it's important to get an answer from the contractor as to how much longer they need and why it's taking so long to complete this project. the only good thing is after 8:00 at night, the lights -- it's my preferred route because of the light timing. so i appreciate that. but in the meantime, the damage to the roadway and to our vehicles as a result of this incomplete project is horrendous. thank you. >> chair borden: next speaker please. >> caller: hi, just quickly on 10.2, the contract just keeps getting longer and longer but my main concern is the bus stops, the contractor continues to not post adequate signage for when bus stops are relocated and often times when they are relocated,

this is barry toronto. it's nice to be able to make public comment at close to 5:00 rather than at 10:00 at night. i want to bring to your attention that more foot closures have occurred among the purchased medallion holders than previously reported, and it's going to get worse before it gets better. this new system where they banned the k medallions from the airport cannot really working. i took a purchased medallion cab this last week, and i still had to wait four hours at the airport before getting a passenger. and the other times, my colleagues have waited longer than that. the taxi business has not come back like the t.n.c. business has at the airport, unfortunately, because drivers are actually either getting picked up by friends and relatives, or they're driving to off airport parking lots and garages and leaving their cars there, so it's not a heldful situation. what needs -- helpful situation. what needs to happen is a debt relief program for holders of medallions. with this latest lockdown, busine

this is barry toronto. i first want to welcome christine silva to the job. she has some very big shoes to fill, and i'm hoping that roberta will give her the support she needs so she can do a fast learning curve, to welcome. i also want to give a shoutout again to philip for creating the cap stand, and i want to thank him again because it's where we can get a lot of our business. the next thing, about prop k that mark gruberg was talking about. i looked at the statistics, and the statistics do not indicate this was a smart move. the statistics do not show that there'll be an increase in income. the drivers that were driving ks will just switch to ps, and then, you'll have more ps, and the wait will be long. the statistics will not bear that out. short fares are at least a third of the fares leaving the airport, and two, the t.n.c.s have increased tremendously from july to september. it increased 28,000 drop offs and pick ups at the airport, from 197,000 to 1 -- from 97,000 to 125,000 [inaudible] so i want to let you know that this is a very, very stupid move

this is barry toronto again. i want to reiterate the better market street plan as it is now is not going to work for taxi drivers. they had to make changes. first i want to give a shout-out to an employee who has done fantastic work in doing outreach. can't say they're not doing a lot of outreach on this plan and their colleague over at the department of public works. they're working to get a lot of outreach out there. however, the way the plan is and not allowing us to use the central lane is ridiculous because we shouldn't be mixing with the bicycles and scooters and the skateboarders. i'd appreciate that you take a look at this again. especially having items brought up from the january 5 meeting. i appreciate you take a look at that. also, regarding foreclosures, there's been more foreclosures. taxi medallions. we can't afford to have more of these occur. it's ridiculous. why aren't you work the board of supervisors to come up with debt relief so the credit union doesn't have to continue with the foreclosures?
