bart says work to fix it all is underway. derailments are rare for transit systems, but they do happen and this we're having no major injuries and not any damage to the opposite track is very good news, and we just want to make sure that we do a proper investigation and then get this out of the way as soon as possible so that we can resume train service. now barnes says one of the big problems here is the tracks are 50 or more years old, and they do have a priority project to try to replace a lot of those old tracks and that is one of the things they're going to be doing in this particular section. they also are going to haul off that 10 car train so they can assess and inspect every part of that to try to understand if more than just heat played a role in the derailment. today now, ask for tomorrow in the morning commute they're planning on using that single track so you will be able to travel through here. but since it is just one track, you want to expect some delays for now reporting live in concord, brooks jarocz. ktvu f

so right bart riders are going to have to deal with delays. and that's because the trains that are running between pleasant hill and concord are on single track service right now. so just one train can go through at a time. so you're going to have to deal with those delays or you're going to have to use other modes of transportation. as you mention, crews are right now working to fix the rail line to make get better. but bart officials are still having a hard time trying to figure out how long it's going to take them to repair that. and then eventually move the train that still there on the tracks. but other riders that we talked to out here today, they say that they're getting a little concerned about the issues that have been popping up on bart and also because if this is a problem, when it's hot like this, there could be potentially even more extreme hot days throughout this summer. >> barnes partially derailed train remains on the tracks between pleasant hill and concord. the disruption forcing the transit system to suspend its yellow line

thank you from bart. we now go to bridges. the bay area.otal authority has voted to crack down on people who don't pay their bridge tolls more than $180 million in tolls have been left unpaid since the beginning of the pandemic and as ktvu tom vacar reports. if people don't pay, they may not be able to register their vehicle. going back 18 months to the beginning of last year, hundreds of thousands of bridge crossers had failed to pay one or more of many toll fees on the bay area's state owned bridges. that's $50 million in tolls before penalties and in the penalties and it's skyrockets to 184 million most people play by the rules. but there are some people that evidently just refused to play by the rules, if not paid a $7 toll, with penalties assessed after invoices are ignored. can rise to $22. the bay area toll authority reports almost 400,000 scofflaws. oh between 22 $88, some 13,000 drivers have racked up bills in excess of $1600 each hence the 184 million. the problem grew back in march of 2020 when human toll takers were eliminated,
