in just the past decade, bart says about 2 million fans have used bart to get to the coliseum the day with the highest ridership. october 10th, 2013, when the a's got shut out by the detroit tigers in game five of the alds, the bittersweet farewell to the a's has boosted bart ridership this week to levels not seen in years. the agency says it had over 211,000 riders yesterday as people headed to the coliseum. the count on tuesday was 204,000. that was the first time bart has seen more than 200,000 riders since the pandemic. >> we've got extra trains to carry these people. we've got extra people to get them through the fare gates efficiently. so we're just hoping everybody has a good, safe time today. this final game at the coliseum for the a's. >> bart expects the coliseum station will remain a busy destination. the oakland roots are scheduled to play at least 17 home games in 2025 as part of the club's united soccer league season, along with concerts and events at the oakland arena. >> well, the oakland roots and soul sports clubs reacting to the a's leaving oakland with a heartfelt

bart and caltrain from financial collapse. so what happens if those transit agencies don't get the funding they say they so desperately need? abc seven news reporter tim johns went to find out and is in the newsroom to tell us what he learned today. tim. >> yeah. dan, the various transit agencies have been warning about their budgetary issues for years now. after ridership cratered at the start of the pandemic, it still hasn't recovered as work from home has become a permanent part of our lives. but with covid money from both the federal government and the state drying up, the agencies need a new way to pay their bills. the san francisco county transportation authority, hosting a first of its kind meeting tuesday morning. the gathering bringing together bar, sfmta and caltrain officials to discuss the so-called fiscal cliffs that several bay area transit agencies are facing. >> it's a regional p, so i don't think it's going to be solved in just one meeting. >> although i did hear a lot of openness towards solving the problem,

bart ridership has been slower since the pandemic in april.hronicle reported bart's ridership was at about 45% of 2019 levels. well tonight, alameda county leaders are sounding the alarm on a possible medfly infestation. that's a mediterranean fruit fly. medflies lay eggs inside fruit and vegetable crops, making them inedible. so officials have placed the 71 mile area of alameda county. there, which includes fremont, under quarantine. the usda says this was all sparked by one medfly in fremont. any farms or homes that grow fruits or vegetables in the area are going to be sprayed with a pesticide. crops cannot be removed from the area until the quarantine is over. no word on when that might be. farm workers and their families spent the day crabbing in san francisco, part of an event put on by the latino nonprofit called alas and the partnership for the presidio. the idea was to honor the hard work of farm workers and their families by giving them a day to spend together. the families took busses from half moon bay to christie field right there,

i wanted to start with bart. there is no red line service right now on bart. is currently limited green line service between berryessa and daly city as well, so there's no red line service for millbrae. you have to take a shuttle train between sfo and millbrae. this is kind of becoming a big mess. there's a 20 minute systemwide delay. i'm not sure what's going on with bart, but if you take bart, you may want to get out to the platforms a little bit earlier to see if you can wait through all that stuff. i do want to mention that we've had a deadly crash northbound 880 going on more than two hours here. northbound 880 at the alameda. everyone is being taken off the freeway in the area because of a deadly crash that happened just after 430 this morning. and i do want to say that the traffic is going to be slow. you can see right now from our live picture, we have a crew on the scene that everyone is being narrowed down and taken off at the alameda. the crash is just above up ahead there, and this crash has been there for a bit, but no one is getting through. look
