david birdsell is joining us, political analyst, baruch college. good to have you back. high profile primary going on. lots of action. let's start talking about the democrats. hillary clinton, we'll call it home turf. she's familiar with what's going on here. people know her. how important is a win for her tonight? >> i think a win is very important. i think a win is something she's almost certain to get. beyond the win, she has to build a big margin. double digits will do it. number is a 3, 4, or 5 will do it better. she's lost eight states to bernie sanders. they're all small and none were terribly diverse. majority white states. new york is very different. she has a chance to get her mojo back. a big state outside of the south. ernie: talk about bernie sanders. this is kind of like the local card he's playing, born and raised in brooklyn. what's he going to do? >> he hasn't shown he's well connected to new york. he left after high school. hasn't been back regularly to the state. some of the rest shows. he's never run a campaign in new york. hillary clinton has. she kn

also the other, the baruch college this morning, hillary clinton again a 13 point lead. bernie sanders and his campaign they have been talking so much about momentum, they have won seven of the last eight contests right now including wyoming over the weekend, bernie sanders keeps saying he has momentum, keeps saying what that momentum is going to mean is that he's going to pull some upsets late in this process. here is the first test of it, can that momentum give him a boost over hillary clinton? so far we are not seeing evidence that that's going to happen. there have been seven polls now in new york state over the last two weeks, in all seven of them hillary clinton has been leading in all seven of them she has been leading by double digits. we talk about the delegates battle on the democratic side. if hillary clinton is beating bernie sanders by double digits in new york next tuesday that's going to be a big delegate gain for her and sanders hopes of catching her in the primary season could do from slim to vanishling slim. those are the latest numbers out of new york.
