nikki battiste reports tonight from new york. >> reporter: today, harvey weinstein's lead attorney framed case against her client as a "hollywood production." donna rotunno told the jury of seven men and five women, the irony is that prosecutors are the producers, and they are writing a script that reads, "the powerful man is so unattractive and large that no woman would ever want to sleep with him voluntarily." six women testified that weinstein sexually assaulted them. actress annabella sciorra claimed he raped her at her new york apartment in the early '90s. but this case is focused on the allegations of two women, a production assistant, miriam haley, who said weinstein forcibly performed oral sex on her in 2006, and aspiring actress jessica mann accused weinstein of raping her in a new york hotel room in march 2013. weinstein's defense argued the encounters were "consensual," and that these accusers stayed in contact with him years later, telling the jury, "what did jessica do after this? she goes to brunch. everyone says she looks normal." they argued, on the day after the alleged r

nikki battiste joins us with the latest on the story. why is this information coming out now?od morning, tony. federal prosecutors discovered singer's notes in 2018 but believe they were privileged at the time and held off on disclosing them until yesterday. now, loughlin's lawyers argue those note and what they say about investigators' conduct could exonerate the defendants. it's been nearly a year since rick singer pleaded guilty to charges. but a new memo from defense attorneys for loughlin and her husband mossimo giannulli claims the government instructed singer to lie to clients by calling their payments bribes. even if he previously characterized them as legitimate. it contains a note on his iphone about discussions with fbi agents. in one exchange he called loud abrasive, they continued to ask me to tell a fib and not restate what i told my clients as to where the money was going. loughlin and giannulli paid half a million dollars to usc allegedly so their daughters could attend the school. they insisted the money was a donation. they're accused of taking additional mea
