there is a red flag fire warning now in effect for the north bay, the east bay, and the south bay hills. what you are looking at is a live look over dublin one of the areas firefighters are concerned about. chief meteorologist is tracking those conditions, jeff, those hills in dublin are very, very yellow these days. >> that's right. drought conditions in place for all of california at this point. gus tee fire winds today as we talked about yesterday. those did happen. oakland hills 57 miles per hour. also santa rosa at 27. that red flag fire warning has now increased here across the bay, including the north bay, east bay and for the south bay. this is for hills above 1,000 feet, we could have winds gusting 35 miles an hour throughout nap a and sonoma. for the east bay includes the 680 corridor all the way down to dublin. and for all of the hills across the south bay at this point. so while it is dry here, we need that rainfall, we have storm activity out in the pacific. no rainfall from this for us, but will kick up high surf and dangerous waves, we'll track that forecast coming up. >>

bay." >> good morning. thanks for joining us. i'm terry mcsweeney. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. breaking news this morning, a teenager air lifted to a burn center after what police call a freak accident. bob redell is live in san jose where the 15-year-old was taken with serious burns. good morning, bob. >> good morning. yes, he is being treated right now here at valley medical center. his condition unknown. just that he was burned as you mentioned, that the burns were significant, that a regular hospital would not do, that he needed a burn center like the one here at valley med. and that he needed that medical attention as soon as possible. hence, the need for the med flight that whisked him away, the helicopter that whisked him away quickly from concord to the med center here in san jose. this boy caught fire as he was being dropped off at the b.a.r.t. station. according to b.a.r.t. police he met up earlier with a man to help fix his car. apparently he didn't know this man. they were stra

so at least through mid afternoon, elevated locations of the north bay, east bay and south bay. that's a change. the northeast winds early on. shifting out of the southeast by the afternoon, as the wind speeds drop off we should see fire danger decreasing. you can see the wind about 5 to 10 miles per hour. closer to ground level than in the hills. wind speeds at about 30 miles per hour. 40s and 30s, chilly start especially in the north bay. you'll see the numbers climb by another 35 degrees by the afternoon. so a cold start. 39 in livermore. you look at the pollen forecast you notice that the breezes, these are spring like levels. so again, not so good of our air quality. pollen count is very high for this time of year. high clouds going by today. patches on the coast. and you'll notice as we head to the weekend temperatures starting to climb on up. probably one of the cooler tas. san francisco highs in the mid-60s. highs near 70. maybe close to a record in oakland with a high of 70 degrees. >> looking toward the bay bridge and the approach. we'll show you the incline from oakla

in the north bay. this is what we're looking for when it comes to your microclimates. south bay, san jose about 68, hazy sunshine here, unfortunately this is the area where we're eyeing for the worst air quality. as winds pick up on the peninsula upper 60s, a mix of sun and clouds. san francisco looks good, you're going to see a few clouds to start, then the clouds mix out of here by about lunch time. the north bay good, close to 70 degrees. just about everywhere. santa rosa 69, in the east bay good for 66 in oakland, this is where you might find patchy fog. that should be burning off. the tri-valley, warmest region low 70s. 71 in livermore and pleasanton. talk about what we're expecting after all you have made it to the weekend and maybe you're like us and been working all week long. you want this weekend. 67 degrees in san francisco. as we head through saturday it's warm. you head out to the water comfortable conditions and a clear sky with better air quality. 69 for tomorrow, in livermore and san jo

this is the warmest part of the bay area. 67 out in the east bay. temperatures elsewhere all over the place. one of those microclimate days. san francisco the upper 50s as the fog returns at 3:00 p.m. if you're looking for the sunshine you'll find it throughout your inland valleys. not bad even by the water. rain on the way into saturday. let's time this out. it's looking pretty good for us. i think we're going to insure up to a half inch especially in the north bay. stop the clock, our best chance for rain as we head through up in the north play, saturday morning, all that activity starts to push south of the golden gate bridge by about lunch time. we're going to get action por the second half of the afternoon by about 4:00. getting the showers down here so in the south bay you want to make outdoor plans the earlier or better as long as you're in by 4:00 you bypass all of that shower activity. on sunday, beautiful, lots of sunshine. 62 in san francisco, oakland at 63 degrees. and we'll be at 65 degrees in napa. we'll have the forecast coming up for

the bay area bridge got a lot of attention, but the key thing around the entire bay area we have a much safer transportation system. >> people don't realize that it does take decades of work. everybody has to weigh in. >> in california, we found ourselves in this predicament. the bay bridge is not alone. >> how long is this bridge expected to last. >> it's design is 150 years. this bridge is built to last and built to incredibly high seismic standards. i think another important thing is while california committed to the freeway structure to make it safe, we still have a long way to go including schools and hospitals that need to be made safe. >> and that's going to take a lot of planning, too. it's between two earthquake faults? >> one of the reasons the bay bridge looks the way it does is because of where it's located on a slope of bedrock that goes deep into the bay. all of the mud has risen up. there is a big earthquake fault on the san francisco side and a whole host on the east bay side. it had to be structured. >> and there is still work to be done? >> that was an unfortunate way

and bay area news.after calling police after the suspects' car and antioch kidnapping last week. seven year-old natalie calvo was found safe just a couple hours after her abduction on friday. roxanna ramirez noted david douglas this strange behavior as he walked into the target she worked at and pittsburgh friday morning. she then went back to the opposite watched him on the surveillance cameras. douglas eventually left the store and went into the parking lot where he hung around for a few hours. because of his bizarre actions rocks and wrote down license plate number from his cold toyota camry later that night, there was an ever alert for seven year- old natalie--amber alert for seven year-old nathalie was kidnapped three douglas's description of a car fit what works and a saw earlier. rocks and called authorities in two hours later police were at her door thinking her for cracking the case. >>: _ at a family to put this behind him and move forward with raising their daughter. douglas remains in jail w
