tam: mission bay was once a bay. it was an inlet of the bay. it was marshy and brackish and kinof shallow. mission bay is finally getting built after many, many years of planning and agreements around infrastructure. there are some really important institutions that are there now, new commercial buildings, as well. it's an area that is rapidly becoming a part of the urban fabric of san francisco where it really was once seen as, like, a strange and unoccupied place, but, because we planned it in an era before we were thinking of sea level rise, it's also very low-lying, and it's one of the city's more vulnerable places to future sea level rise. scholl: the problem is that the land is so valuable because it's now land. development companies couldn't not build there. there were billions of dollars in real estate to be had, but they built it in probably one of the worst places they could have. it was a bay in the past, and it most likely will be a bay in the future. tam: we picked this part of the shoreline for a study around design concepts for f

so as we just saw right now, east bay, south bay. not bad. a very calm conditions, but it does pick up later this afternoon our temperature right now in oakland is 51 degrees. we're at 47 in napa and 48 right now in santa rosa temperatures below normal for this time of year and pretty similar to what we yesterday. our high temperatures today will hit around 64 degrees out in fremont. a half moon bay 57. and in napa were expected to hit 70 degrees today. we do have that winter weather advisory that will be in effect this afternoon through 10 o'clock tonight. if you happen to be traveling out to the sierra there showers fresh snow powder out of hair. as for here in the bay area is going to be dry for us. we don't expect to see any rain. just be a breezy and windy conditions for us the next couple of days. but there you see that warming trend saturday into next monday, temperatures increase in a little bit. there. in the just tie down anything that you have outside that could blow away because it does pick up for the east and south bay. the link

north bay and east bay hills with gusty offshore winds. let's check with gianna for the latest on our morning commute. >>> we'll start with the altamont pass where our busiest spot is this morning. folks head out of tracy to 580. slow from mount house on 205 extending to well beyond north flynn. if you are a super commuter plan for that. 38 minutes is your travel time west bound 580 from 205 to 680. also keeping my eye on the ride out of gilroy, san martin, morgan hill, things are starting to bog down especially out of san martin. north of there, a trouble spot near capital expressway. a new crash near hellyer and brake lights near the 280, 680 connector. if you are taking the benicia bridge, chp has issued a wind advisory so be extra careful as you cross the span. >>> we just got an update on a fire overnight. this was at a self storage facility, safe keep storage on middle field road. this is 10:00 last night on the citizen app. the fire is out but the investigation into the cause continues. police tweeted that the roadways are reopened

we are looking at the north bay, east bay. also, some of the south bay mountains under this red-flag fire warning. 25 to 50-mile-per-hour gusts there in the mountains. lower elevations, 5 to 15 sustained winds. and humidity between 5 to 20%. i think, you know, overall, we'll be okay at the lower elevations. it really is the mountains where we are going to really start to see that wind ramp up, especially in the north bay down to about solano county. the other thing that is going to happen. when you get the wind, you get heating. so those air molecules as that wind pushes down the mountains. they start moving back and forth against each other. creating some friction. heating up the air. and that's why we will see those hottest temperatures here, inland. 88 in martinez. 91 in concord. also, looking at 89 in livermore and some mid-80s from san jose down to morgan hill. we also got to take care of mom. so maybe you are going to take her out to dinner on sunday. if you can get over some of the breezy conditions, we got some good we
