bay, san pablo bay, parts of the north bay. this is for minor coastal flooding because of the high tides. no rain. of that's why we have a flood advisory is because of the high tides at 8.34 so that already passed. but still, we have that flooding possibility for maybe the park's maybe some parking lots, just some low lying areas through noon in the meantime is also a high wind advisory in effect 20 to 30 mile per hour gusts across the highest locations, even 50 mile per hour gusts possible in the north bay mountains in the east bay hills of santa clara, eastern hills. and in the santa cruz mountains. so that's a big concern because the winds can get very, very gusty. could down trees. tree limbs could put up power and also tough to drive u.s. high profile vehicles. air quality. ours is great. we have a northeasterly wind is pushing up smoke from the la fires away from us. so it's good air quality everywhere you look for us, which is great news. but look at southern california. my goodness, gracious. there's a bull's eye of ter

that will get us down to 40 here in the south bay, up to the north bay. we'll be right there at 37, san francisco 44. and as we move through tomorrow afternoon, lots of 60s here across the bay area. so i think overall here across the bay area, it's going to be a nice afternoon on your tuesday forecast. it will leave us with 63 in san jose right here across the east bay. we're coming in with 64 in walnut creek, 62 in fremont out to daly city, 60 down to palo alto, 63, san francisco, 59 in the marina and 60 in the ingleside. up here to the north bay, 64 in santa rosa. rainfall chances still no good news on this front. january can be one of our most active months, but this area of high pressure. this is the main reason we'll stay rain free from any big storms. as everything goes way up towards alaska and canada, it looks to be situated here through the next ten days, so we may not get into larger rain chances until early february. right thehere in th 7-day forecast. we'll keep it dry this upcoming weekend as the bay area will experience 50s and 60s for highs

ian cull nbc bay area news. a live look tonight at the bay bridge.looks the same as it did yesterday, but now it costs more to cross. the bridge is one of seven state owned bridges where bay area bridges, where you'll have to shell out a dollar more to cross. so tolls for regular cars, that's now $8. the increase was part of a measure approved by voters, and that will include support for transit and highway improvements. the toll change does not include the golden gate bridge. bart and muni fares are also going up by about $0.25, depending on your route. so how do riders feel about it? i think that i don't like it when fares increase, but it seems like it's kind of a necessity in these days with inflation. bart says the increase is meant to help keep pace with inflation, and also support operations to move toward restoring financial stability. muni says its changes were tied to public feedback received earlier this year during the budget process. okay. bay area high school marching band had the honor of playing in this morning's rose parade in pasade

well, coming up next on today in the bay, nbc bay area responds.s possible california's home insurance crisis could turn a corner today. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura. i'll explain how and what a bunch of computer cod hase 522 right now. welcome back. this is a chaotic scene from early ne year's day in oakland. police are investigating this illegal sideshow. it happened on west macarthur just before three. video shows people jumping on cars and other cars seemingly caught on fire. so dangerous. officials say they broke up the crowds and tracked down one car close by. police found a gun in that car and arrested the driver. another sideshow was happening, this time in vallejo. fireworks going off as drivers were doing donuts there. this was around 3 a.m. at kentucky and alameda streets. police arrested three people in one of the cars in a late night quake reported in the north bay. 4.7 in cobb, which is near the lake in sonoma county, borders. this is our seismograph here at the studio in san jose capturing that quake. usgs says the earthqua

we're talking about the hills of the north bay, east bay, diablo range and the santa cruz mountains. could see wind gusts just before and after sunrise tomorrow, about 45mph, and the wind direction is dry and offshore. and you'll notice the peak wind speeds around 5 a.m. on the higher hills there of napa county and throughout solano county, as well the inland east bay valleys from about 5 a.m. to noon tomorrow, and then by tuesday evening and wednesday night, those wind speeds do start to come down. so the culprit for this high pressure to the west, strong low pressure there east of southern california, where there's the potential of damaging wind gusts there near la and orange counties. this pattern relaxes as we get into wednesday and thursday, but notice what's missing in the forecast here. high pressure holding on. no signs of rain over the next few days. now stay tuned. we'll let you know what the impacts are on your temperatures and when the next rain chances may materialize. coming up with chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. full forecast coming up today at five. back to you. an

south bay. so all in all, not a bad day for us here. 63 in san jose, 64 in milpitas. and those light winds, 61 in oakland, 64 here in concord and the low 60s continue across most of the peninsula, from daly city to palo alto. although half moon bay here at 59 san francisco, upper 50s in the marina, the mission at 62 and for the north bay 62 as well in sonoma, right here in novato, we're at 63 rainfall chances. doesn't look good for us. it's january. this can be one of our most active months, but high pressure is going to push everything way up towards canada and alaska into the next ten days. i got to tell you, we may not actually get in on some good rain chances here until the beginning of february, so we're missing out on a big chunk of our rain season here with that high pressure right here in san francisco. 50s to 60s for highs. and we got plenty of 40s in the mornings next several days. and across the inland valleys, also 50s and 60s for highs 30 to 40s across the mornings. we are tracking

we're still seeing some gusts and some of the north bay, east bay, and south bay mountains in that red to magenta color 40 to about 50. so i still think over the next several hours into this evening, we get gusts up to about 45. primarily in the mountains are sustained wind right around 10 to 20. and that top risk in the mountains 500ft and above. but again, our wind, any kind of wind moves out of here tomorrow down in southern california. again, that ferocis wind continues. wind warnings in place until 6 p.m. tomorrow, with again, those 100 mile per hour gusts possible. sustained winds 20 to 50. no big rain chances as we head through the next two weeks. so we talked about the pacific palisades fire. i wanted to give you a map perspective on it. you can see the los angeles area here. palisades is just off towards the west, and you'll see how those northeasterly winds blowing all the smoke right there out towards the ocean. gusts right now 38. and very low humidity at 19%. we're going to talk more about our wind forecast, what's ahead for us and what's happening with all of our rain cha

we're watching in the bay area tonight across some of the north bay hills. as you're about to see, gusts tonight could be above 50mph. we're seeing that right now close to mount saint helena, 49 degrees in san jose. not much wind. eventually, we'll see lows dropping closer to 40 around san jose. and it's already 40 degrees in dublin. this is one of the locations over the next few nights and mornings, could be waking up to some patchy frost and temperatures in the 30s. 48 degrees in san rafael. not much wind there or in san francisco as you can see. if the mirror like reflection off the bay pretty view, 51 degrees, fog and cloud fre for now. and look how chilly temperatures have dropped. napa and danville into the 30s. we've had the dry offshore wind last couple of days. again, it's the moisture and the clouds that are in the air at night, which kind of act like a blanket. they kindf keep the temperatures up. you take that away. now we cool off rather quickly, but not as cold where the winds are ongoing. winds out of the northeast at 33mph at mount saint hele

thom jensen, nbc, bay area news. in altadena today, a fresh look at the devastation caused by the eaton fire. more than 7000 structures damaged or destroyed, and some who lost their homes and businesses are seeing that deruction for the first time. nbc bay area's velena jones is there. many of those residents tell us they are frustrated with the lack of communication from law enforcement. they tell us that they came here to the evacuation zone after being sent an email that they thought would grant them permission to come see their homes, only to be turned away. altadena residents are now facing a new reality. it's been gutting. it's like it's like armageddon at the top of lake avenue. molly stein's house is one of the few that survived the eaton fire. airdrops help put out flames next door and save her home at the same time. tonight, she's struggling with survivor's guilt. we have a house, but we're going to live there. with no village and nothing around us. it's a it's a terrible situation. stein is one of the many

here's nbc bay area's cyd ho quintana. as crews set up for the first downtown first thursday of the year, organizers are hoping for the same turnout or even bigger than past events. but this one comes just one day after a man drove into a crowd down bourbon street in new orleans, in what authorits say is a deadly terrorist incident. organizers of downtown first thursday would not discuss specifics of their security plan for tonight, but did send us a statement saying, as with every downtown first thursday, we coordinate all of our security and public safety plans with the san francisco police department. according to the sfpd, they will be fully staffed for all of the major events in the city today and in the future. that includes the warriors game and the downtown first thursday event. today, mayor elect daniel lurie announced the appointment of a chief of public safety. it's a new position in the city administration. the new appointee says coordinating the city's response to big events will be a key part of his job. we n

robert honda, nbc, bay area news. new information tonight on the rape case involving the former san francisco 49ers dana stubblefield. he will have to spend at least another two weeks in jail. an appeals court overturned stubblefield's conviction last week. it determined prosecutors made racially discriminatory statements about him being black, and since then, the department of corrections moved stubblefield from corcoran state prison, which is 160 miles south of the bay area, to elmwood jail in milpitas. now, this morning, stubblefield's attorneys returned to santa clara county superior court, but the motion to release stubblefield was continued to january 17th. the court says it needs more time to review the motion and see who has jurisdiction. the judge was very sympathetic about our situation, and he recognizes that under law, he should be returned to the status that he had prior to this false conviction. stubblefield's attorneys say their first priority is to get stubblefield released. then they plan to ask the j
