we're expecting wide spread activity across the bay area. i'm going to show you that on your future cast in just a moment. you can see the showers are intensifying now in bodega bay. all the activity headed towards santa rosa. as we head through the next half hour or so you will get your first showers up there. we take it right to your future cast. we stop the clock for you at 8:00 a.m. this morning. and you will notice at that point a lot of green on the radar expected from livermore all of the way south through san jose down 101 into san martin and gilroy and also getting some pretty good shower activity at that point at the immediate coast and up and down the peninsula. then i take you into the 11:00 hour and it's not just the green that we're talking a at this point. we've got some red, yellow, even some orange in there. that's nod rate to heavy rainfall embedded within that green and isolated thunderstorms as well. that will continue as we head throughout about 2:00. that's where we're expecting the heavy stuff to start to wind down. as

bay area for tomorrow morning's commute, south bay and east bay, there's a chance to see a few showersunchtime and midday partly cloudy skies, then it'll be the north bay. up towards santa rosa and the north bay hilltops towards napa there is still a slight chance of a hilltop shower for tomorrow. starting off in the 50s, still a chance of some showers, mainly off to the south of san jose midday temperatures in the 60s and breezy tomorrow and highs starting to warm up a little bit more. some 70s around the livermore tomorrow and more of the warming temperatures coming up for the weekend. so tomorrow near 72 degrees in san jose mid to upper 60s, closer to san francisco. mid-70s around the north bay, decent warmup for tomorrow and low to mid-70s around the tri-valley. so the weather pattern taking shape later tomorrow into the weekend as this low is going to move out by this time tomorrow evening. followed up by high pressure building in that'll lead to clearing skies, except along the immediate coast. we're going to see warmer temperatures heading towards saturday and sunday in the week

bay. all the moisture consolidated around an area of low pressure south and east of san francisco. that's why the city and most of the peninsula have not seen rainfall but the south bay has received rain and another round of rainfall not only heading toward fremont but also milpitas and some heavier showers heading directly towards morgan hill and i'm looking at the radar right now. lightning three miles north and east of morgan hill. so if the kids are outside in morgan hill or gilroy now, get them inside! lightning is close enough to become dangerous. so bring the kids inside south of san jose. new lightning strikes are popping up. as i said, the low pressure area to our south and east, the rainfall is only near the low so not everybody getting the rainfall today. and the slow beginning to pull away. the most rain we have seen so far campbell a sixth of an inch, union city and danville more than .10". early this morning one of our weather watcher kathy munch took these pictures in sebastopol dropped out of a cloud bank a rare funnel cloud. she sent us the photos right away as a we

a car fire sparks a grass fire along a major bay area freeway. good morning everyone. thank you for joining us. i'm scott mcgrew. >>> i'm kris sanchez. we begin with the developing story in the east bay where firefighters have now contained a five acre grass fire in livermore. firefighters tell us an suv caught fire and then because of the extreme dry conditions we're experiencing, the flames spread to the hillside nearby. we still don't know the condition of the driver but the fire did go from two acres to five acres in a matter of minutes. the flames are now contained. even though it's cool outside, the fire danger remains. >>> a cool dry forecast is something firefighters are watching closely. rob mayeda joins us. this drought making the fire worse could keep them busy. >>> the wind speeds once they kick up can get a fire moving pretty good as the hillsides are parched from the drought. 65 in livermore. wind speeds out of the west at 10 miles per hour. had this fire happened a little bit later on this afternoon, you can see the wind speeds will accelerate closer to 2
