she is best in the bay area for being the cofounder of the bay area women's march but on monday earlier this week just before noon, she hit and killed a pedestrian on blossom hill road. the victim was identified is 66- year-old tim starkey who was working as a handyman. he had just arrived and was outside his truck which was parked on blossom hill road. she was inside at the time of the accident. a neighbor alerted her to the tragedy. >> he was lovely. i was in shock. >> reporter: she is one of three candidates running for the election and a vacancy for district 10. in a statement released by her campaign she says she is, quote, heartbroken and deeply saddened by this tragic death and she is taking time to recover from the accident and grieve the loss of light. the victim's family told kpix 5, quote, his smile and humor were the favorite tools he brought to every job. he was so popular he had assignments lined up for months out and was looking forward to spending christmas with his wonderful family. police are still investigating. she was not arrested. in san jose, jackie ward, kpix 5.

so the take away is we could see a shower or 2 in the bay area into wednesday morning. n and won't amount to much. there's really a focus in the north bay. look how the numbers get lower the further south you go until you cross the golden gate bridge and then it's 0. and not to leave out the south bay, let's pick the rest of the numbers out. there's the .05 inches for nevado. that's going to bring the cold temperatures in the north bay. 49 for santa rosa, and meanwhile it's 45 in san jose. more of a typical sheltered valleys in the north bay really feel the cold overnight. daytime highs mostly identical. mid-50s in most places although san jose goes to 61. most other locations come into the mid-50s. so we talked about that small chance of rain on tuesday and wednesday. when you just look at it on the seven-day, you might come away from this thinking wow tuesday and wednesday both have a chance of rain on them. that's really an overstatement. we just saw that if we get rain it will come in the overnight hours tuesday. don't count on much. thursday we get a break. friday a

the rain coming down for the better part of the day most parts of the bay area today. a forecast will say some areas could get anywhere from two to even 5 inches of rain. the roads were a little slick and plenty of people were out beginning to form on the streets. royal mountain resort said they've gotten 35 inches of snow in the last three days. but all of that snow creating a major problem for people driving to and from tahoe. interstate 80 was closed last night for 12 hours. we have a live team coverage of this weekends a storm, but first we want to check in with mark on just how much rain we can expect for the rest of weekend. >> the extreme amounts of the bay area could pick up over 6 inches of rain, we are talking the santa cruz mountains. but everyone will pick up significant rainfall as we head into sunday and monday. in the past 24 hours, santa rosa had .76, san francisco .13 but we are adding to these totals right now. and up/flood watch posted for the kincade fire burn zone with expectations of 3 to 4 inches in place until 3:00 monday morning. with a possible

into the afternoon here it is, widespread with light rain over central and southern bay area. the north bay coming down fairly good for the evening drive. for the evening festivities scattered showers will continue. this storm will bring with the wind. we have a wind advisory starting later today. a look at saturday morning, in and out of light in scattered showers with heavier rain moving in during the afternoon. we remain with wet weather through saturday but breakaway to scattered showers saturday night. at early sunday morning, and by the afternoon sunday looks to be dry. as far as rainfall amounts, anywhere from half to one inch over the next 24 hours. sunday morning we get another a half to one inch with santa rosa looking at over 2 1/2 inches. in the urban areas we go to to two and half inches for the waiter spots and in the hills 2 to 4 inches. we have a flash flood watch for the kincade fire burning zone later today and areas downstream that is a large portion of the north bay. the wind advisory later today is bay area wide, breezy and gusting through the afternoon. i

not much variation in the temperatures as you travel in and ound the bay area. to the embarcadero, union square for some shopping, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 50s. and right here to the north bay, 58 in know valley. santa rosa 61 degrees. what about our storm system? let's go ahead and show you the new change on this. it looks like it's going to slow down. so that means most of saturday this point is expected to be dry. 7:30 in the morning storms off to the north. you can see by 5:00 p.m., rainfall is just to the north of santa rosa. so most of the bay area here is going to be dry through saturday's forecast. we have the 49ers game on nbc bay area on saturday. so right now we have an overcast kickoff, maybe a spotty shower by the fourth quarter. but i think at this point we'll avoid any kind of heavy rainfall. >>> let's head back to the futurecast and then the storm system looks like it starts to move in by sunday morning. and then keep is that rain chance into sunday afternoon. not here, but going up to the sierra, our toyota tahoe snow report shows
