the wind will change direction for parts of the bay area as we had through the day tomorrow. further inland it will be an offshore breeze. temperatures will be significant for inland parts of the north bay and east bay. northwesterly wind will take the cooler air over the bay into the santa clara valley. san jose will still be about 5 degrees above average. along the coast, the wind will be from the northwest, instead of straight from the west. which does make a difference in terms of how much temperatures warm up along the coast and around the bay. everyone's temperatures should end up about 4 to 8 degrees above average and the really warm air arrives later on this week. looking outside as the fog, this is as thick as it will be as we look out from our hotel, it will diminish to run tonight, we will not see nearly as much tomorrow. the onshore breeze keeps temperatures cool for most of us but we made it into the low 70s for concord and santa rosa upper 70s tomorrow. san jose almost hit 70, 60 degrees on the button for cisco, pacifica on the mid-50s. even along the coast i thi

early afternoon, another round marches across the bay area. most of us are having a quiet afternoon. if you happen to be one of the locations that gets one of the thunderstorms, it's a brief downpour, small hail, rumble of thunder and gust he wind in the heart of that. to get a handle on why it is the second half of the day that probably matters more, the regular satellite shows the clouds. if we pull out colors that shows you the energy, right off the coast. brighter bands of purple show higher cloud tops, more nerve the forecast wants to bring that on a train into the bay area for the afternoon. that's why we are spotlighting the potential and why we have this as a first alert forecast day. it's for that possibility. temperatures now are in the mid 50s. we'll go to the low 60s for daytime highs. friday does have a chance of rain left over in the morning. by afternoon weyrauch done. sunny skies and daytime highs claim to the mid 70s. it will be a different feel by saturday and sunday. let's see what this has about done to the drive. >>> a han

but, the inland portions of the bay area, several degrees warmer compared to 24 hours ago. quite as much for the northbay and around the bay itself but we will make another jump with our temperatures as we had three friday afternoon. low temperatures tonight, about where we started off every morning so far this week. in the 40s across the north, northbay valleys around mt. diablo in the upper 40s also mid and upper 40s around the bay. tomorrow's temperatures will be a battle between the onshore wind which will be with us with and full sunshine throughout the day. those two will balance each other out for seven cisco, which means i must exactly average high temperatures pushing into the low 60s by friday afternoon. it will be quite a bit warmer further inland. santa rosa likely to climb into the mid-70s, the wind will not be a strong. concord will reach into the mid- 70s as well. about 5 to 6 degrees above average for most inland parts of the bay area and san jose after topping out in the mid and upper 60 today you will climb into the low 70s by friday afternoon. similar tem

they say this storm to our north that is going to inch its way closer into the bay area overnight. increasing our cloud cover. but we are going to see some light scattered showers as early as monday afternoon. for those of you in the north bay drive for everyone else in the bay area and those showers going to hang tight mainly in the north bay, widespread light to moderate rain by monday evening. at 9 o'clock still dry for the rest of the bay area. so once again, this is going to be an overnight storm as it shifts to the south and east after midnight that some are going to notice some light scattered showers throughout the san francisco peninsula heading into the east bay by around 2 o'clock in the morning. and then by 4 o'clock tuesday morning. >> it's going to shift even further east, mainly for those of you in the south bay until it exits by around sunrise on tuesday morning. and that's the first or the second round. that one will arrive wednesday afternoon for those of you in the north, it is going to be a stronger storm and it's going to peak wednesday night all the way through

we don't see this very often in the bay area. we're going to be in the low end of the instability spectrum. we never climb very high around the bay area. the fact that this storm system is going to track directly overhead means there will be colder air in the upper level and that allows showers to continue to grow into the actual thunderstorms and that will be the pattern into tomorrow evening. the storm prediction center, that's the national agency in charge of predicting severe weather, they are not predicting severe weather for us, but they have outlook not just the bay area, but most of the northern half of california for general thunderstorms. that means that cloud-to-ground lightning and small hail are going to be possible out of the stronger cells tomorrow. that's why tomorrow is the first alert weather day and this is going to be a snow maker for the high sierra. winter storm warnings through 11:00 friday. we are looking at one to two feet of snow and some of the highest peaks picking three feet of snow. travel strongly d
