investigators posed as the child they say was victimized, then they followed the sign trail to the bay area cityof rohnert park. a novato police officer is on leave after being charged in connection with a child pornography investigation. >> you don't ever want to have knowledge that another officer is involved in something like this. >> reporter: sergeant jeff justice of the rohnert park police department says his department began investigating 34-year-old officer michael manuel ramirez eight months ago after detectives in texas where the 13-year-old alleged victim lives notified them she had contact with someone in rohnert park. police traced the computer ip address to ramirez's home address. police say the young teen and officer first met on instagram, then took their explicit conversation and photos to a messaging app called king. police got a search warrant to search ramirez's computer and phone. >> there was no child pornography found on the devices, but based on the messages and the victim's statement of what was occurring, there had been nude or pornographic images sent by the victim. >>
