down as we make our way into next weekend. >> reporter: a dog may have saved a man's life in a shooting on a bay area freeway. the animals on life is now in danger. around 7:30 friday night a total of nine shots hit a car on the passenger side as it in oakland. on the intee bullet fragmentsthe iver in the back of the neck and a service dog was standing next to him in the car between the two front seats. two of the bullets hit layla instead of the driver. she is now in critical condition and it's not certain she will survive those wounds. >> they said she was mostly fluid in the lungs from the bullet that went into her shoulder. this morning she started developing what they think maybe some sort of spinal cord or lower damage that she can't feel pain in her legs. she can't move her tail. >> the driver says layla is a hero. he was taken care of layla at the time and bringing her back to her owner. the driver is mystified as to why someone would shoot at him. >> i have no enemies in the world and i know of. theories have been floating around that it was a common car that may be someone mistook for someo
