nbc bay area's christie smith has reaction from commuters about having to pay a little bit more at the start of the new year. comes with something to factor in for many bay area drivers, the cost to cross any of the seven state owned toll bridges is rising by a dollar. i really need my car for some reason. like, say, i'm lugging a bunch of stuff back or whatever. then i'll take it. i'll take the car and just, you know, pay the extra fare. because unfortunately, this is a car nation. unfortunately, pablo morales relies on muni in san francisco more than a car, but some muni fares are rising too. i guess i mean, just like with everything else, everything is going up. but also, i know, like they're also strapped on. the infrastructure is strapped on cash right now, so it's also understandable. with the dollar change, regular tolls will go from 7 to $8. bart fares will rise 5.5%, or about $0.25 more for an average trip, and some muni fares will go up about $0.25. riders we spoke with see it this wayay is not convenient, but i don't know how. it's not necessary. looking at the city, looking at the condition

this is nbc bay area news. tonight, i'm jessica aguirre. we're going to start with that chaos and carnage at the new year celebration in new orleans tonight. at least 15 people are dead after a driver deliberately plowed a pickup truck down bourbon street. dozens of people injured. this happened around 315 in the morning as people were celebrating in the streets after hitting that crowd. investigators say the driver got out of the truck and started shooting at local law enforcement. the very officers which were already on bourbon street for the festivities, who then fired back. the driver pronounced dead at the scene. the fbi says it is being investigated as an act of terrorism. investigators found weapons and explosives in that truck and an isis flag on the trailer hitch of the vehicle. we're aggressively running down all of the leads to identify this. the possible subjects, associates. we're working to ensure that there is no further threat. we do not believe that jabar was solely responsible. we are aggressively running down every lead, i
