bay area this season. now firefighters are battling old fire that started around 3.30 tuesday afternoon in the area of old soda springs road. so far, only 5% of that fire is contained. the evacuation orders have expired and residents can now return. cal fire is asking residents to take extreme caution when returning as there is emergency personnel. and the bay area air quality management district issued an advisory for the north bay for hazy, smoky conditions. fire crews will remain working in that area. the fire season is year-round now and yet north bay state senator mike mcguire says the state's top firefighting organization doesn't have enough men and women to do the job. mcguire is trying to sound the alarm to change all of that force. dan kerman has that story. >> we need to fix the cal fire firefighter shortage and we can't wait another year to do it. >> state senator mike mcguire represents the north bay were bone dry. hillsides are now the norm. he says time is running out to bring cal fire's workforce to proper staffing levels. >> cal fire is one of the few agencies left in the entire state of california. th
