standoff ends in an arrest in san francisco, started just before 8:00 this morning near alemany and bayshorerd. police say an armed man was sitting inside a parked car when officers arrived. when he did. when they did, the man slammed the car into reverse and hit a fire truck. the man surrendered. a few minutes later and was arrested. a world war two veteran will finally be laid to rest in the bay area. u.s. service members brought the remains of army sergeant yuan hoppe to sfo early this morning, and sergeant hoppe was born in sebastopol. he served in the air force during world war two. his plane shot down in germany in 1944 when he was 20. n, for decades, efforts to find and recover his body were unsuccessful. but finally, last june, researchers found information he was buried at a local cemetery in germany. now, sergeant hoppe's only living sister was there as his remains arrived on the tarmac in a flag draped casket. he has been posthumously awarded many medals, including the purple heart. a police motorcade escorted sergeant hoff's remains to a mortuary in daly city. he will be laid to
