as a staff member at the bayview child health center, every day i see positive things that the bayview child health center is providing for this community. every day i hear the stories from the parents and children. recently, i had patients come in, their car broke down and they were fortunate that they were able to be seen on that same day and not have to go to the emergency room which is across town for them and sit there for hours. i found just so much privilege to be able to serve this community. they are grateful for the things we can provide for them. no amount of money can replace that. to see their faces when they come in and they are so happy that there is a doctor that listens to them. there is a doctor that sits there and listened to every concerned, not just from their illnesses but also what is going on at home. what might cause this child's to feel that way. this health center has gone far beyond what any pediatric clinic would do for these kids and i am so thankful to be able to take my kids there because i have physicians that are extremely thorough and not just looking

from the bayview. and the only reason i'm here tonight is to support that gentleman that just came before you and supporting him in what he wants do with cpmc because my dealing with cpmc is a definite indication that they don't want no black folks on this project. we're talking about different agreements, development and so forth, but you you don't know that none of this work they're doing is going to be put out for a competitive bid nor is it subject to -- i had to deal with mr. lamb to deal with his 14% or whatever but i guess i'm not the right color because they don't want me but i want to come before you this evening and let you know that they discriminate and they do all they can unless you want to be a janitor or direct traffic and not be a mechanical contractor and be a part of their team that they have, you have to be chosen by them, it's no competitive bidding, it's none of that. you got to be a part of the team, a part of the paradigm and that's how you get to be a part of building this cpmc

i was born and raised in bayview hunters point. as a family, we have bred and bled and sweated to gather -- together. october the 9th, i turned 63 years old, but i was born and raised here before i came to hunters point from the south to escape harsh conditions against african americans to come to california to find a better way for his family. there are a few questions of like to put, what is the policy for a contract in to minority contractors? what type of representation on the selection and awards committee for jobs and contracts for these projects? what type of hardship policy is in place to ensure employment of our troubled youth and adults in the community. someone spoke to the issue of employment. but we need something in place that will be a support system for the huge and troubled adults -- youth and troubled adults. we are on the path for returning back to society as a responsible member of society. the fourth question will be to the housing authority. this has to do with affordable housing. it is under the title, sectio

i have been a resident in the bayview for 25 years. i have been here a very long time. very few have preceded me. this project originated with redevelopment. redevelopment a star and our eyes, and we were wondering if they could ever came out. they came out with this project, and it was their idea to help redevelop our street. with the neighbors on the spot, we were able to win the award. with all the neighbors, and redevelopment, -- and i also want to thank one whirled designed -- this project came to light. we were able to get it on paper, and from there, it went to reality, with the help of the other departments. i also wanted knowledge the core members of the group that worked on this project. mardina, nimichelle, juan fuent, anna smith. we met with various residents on the block, at my house, month after month, to make this project work. there is so much love that goes out to redevelopment again, for all of the effort we put forth. it took six years to do this. some people said that it would never happen. in my heart and soul, i knew we were going to get this done.
