as a staff member at the bayview child health center, every day i see positive things that the bayview child health center is providing for this community. every day i hear the stories from the parents and children. recently, i had patients come in, their car broke down and they were fortunate that they were able to be seen on that same day and not have to go to the emergency room which is across town for them and sit there for hours. i found just so much privilege to be able to serve this community. they are grateful for the things we can provide for them. no amount of money can replace that. to see their faces when they come in and they are so happy that there is a doctor that listens to them. there is a doctor that sits there and listened to every concerned, not just from their illnesses but also what is going on at home. what might cause this child's to feel that way. this health center has gone far beyond what any pediatric clinic would do for these kids and i am so thankful to be able to take my kids there because i have physicians that are extremely thorough and not just looking

i'm honored to recognize and honor cheryl's work and commitment to the bayview community tonight and i ask that we close in her memory. thank you very much. clerk: thank you, supervisor cohen. supervisor farrell? supervisor farrell: thanks, madam clerk, colleagues. one in memoriam today and i would like to adjourn today's meeting in memory of a good friend, patrick landers, who died on tuesday, december 6, after about a one-year battle to lymphoma. patrick was a native of washington, d.c. and although he remained a rins -- redskins fan, he worked for the giants for i believe over a decade, you will never have met a bigger giants fan here in san francisco. he was able to celebrate our 2010 world series championship. he is survived by his two sons, aden, who is 6 years old, and ty, who is 3. he passed away earlier this month at the age of 38 and his wonderful wife, christine landers. he was an eagle scout and olympic torch bearer in the 1996 games in atlanta and all-around great person, infectious. he had his funeral or service today at at&t park where the giants opened up the stadium

i have been a resident in the bayview for 25 years. i have been here a very long time. very few have preceded me. this project originated with redevelopment. redevelopment a star and our eyes, and we were wondering if they could ever came out. they came out with this project, and it was their idea to help redevelop our street. with the neighbors on the spot, we were able to win the award. with all the neighbors, and redevelopment, -- and i also want to thank one whirled designed -- this project came to light. we were able to get it on paper, and from there, it went to reality, with the help of the other departments. i also wanted knowledge the core members of the group that worked on this project. mardina, nimichelle, juan fuent, anna smith. we met with various residents on the block, at my house, month after month, to make this project work. there is so much love that goes out to redevelopment again, for all of the effort we put forth. it took six years to do this. some people said that it would never happen. in my heart and soul, i knew we were going to get this done.
