i work in the bayview. i have a teenager in the bayview. i have two foster kids that i raised there. yes, this is a must. even with all of the schools, my kids at the academy, and everything that is coming to the school. the access to it, you could take your teeth to this place. it is accessible to everyone. if my daughter did not have a test today, she wanted to be here like she was at the last meeting. she sees what they need in the bayview. also, the parking, there will always be meters. that is what san francisco is. there is a parking structure going up across the street. it is not like it is not accessible or parents cannot get to it. i think that people need to fight the good fight, instead of just wanting to have an argument. thank you. specifically coming from bayview. bayview hunters point. one of the most remarkable and moving aspects of her story is the energy and ferocity she attaches -- attaches to a goal. because of this she has made enormous progress in her dreams to become a world-class boxer and in a short time. it was two years ago that she signed up for boxing classes. through our very own recreational and parks department. at the mission rec center. although she works full time as an administrative assistant she trains to tirelessly every day and finds time to teach boxing classes at the mission rec center. i think we wish her the best in her efforts and are honored to have for represent our city in the trials. i look for to hearing our progress in the trials and i look forward to the day that when she returns home to bring her fire and passion to our community. please put your hands together for ms. raquel miller. the bayview district is right around 3%. you will see that, for instance, the northern district has a 31% rate, but what i am very proud of is when i took over at mta, i worked very closely with the captain. we were at a 46% rate back in may. we brought that down over the last several months, and it continues in a downward trend, and that has a lot to do with both her officers and the mta folks that work directly for me. the next slide explains the resources assigned to the mta from the police apartment. besides myself, the staff are comprised of one captain, one sergeant, and seven uniformed officers that are responsible for the -- the sergeant and seven officers are responsible for uniformed patrol. we have one sergeant and four k- 9 teams, comprised of an officer and their dog. they basically deal with issues relating to bomb threats and possible devices on our system. they have been highly successful. we utilize the dogs when we get reports of suspicious packages, and they are able to go in and make a determination if th

i have been a resident in the bayview for 25 years. i have been here a very long time. very few have preceded me. this project originated with redevelopment. redevelopment a star and our eyes, and we were wondering if they could ever came out. they came out with this project, and it was their idea to help redevelop our street. with the neighbors on the spot, we were able to win the award. with all the neighbors, and redevelopment, -- and i also want to thank one whirled designed -- this project came to light. we were able to get it on paper, and from there, it went to reality, with the help of the other departments. i also wanted knowledge the core members of the group that worked on this project. mardina, nimichelle, juan fuent, anna smith. we met with various residents on the block, at my house, month after month, to make this project work. there is so much love that goes out to redevelopment again, for all of the effort we put forth. it took six years to do this. some people said that it would never happen. in my heart and soul, i knew we were going to get this done.

gina and i'm a district vice president for the ymca of san francisco and executive director of the bayview here tonight and to be part of the swearing-in ceremony for district attorney gascon. in my years of experience working in the community, i know that the most effective way to prevent crime is to invest in our city's young people now. most people think of the d.a.'s office as strictly a prosecutorial agency. i would like to convey today is that the d.a.'s office is so much more. for the last two years, the d.a.'s office has provided critical funding for the bayview hunters point ymca's center for academic re-entertry and empowerment, a truancy project in the form of a school that helps teens get back on track to finish their education. 35 youths have graduated from high school. note, a majority of these youths have been out of school for two years. over the past 2 1/2 years, we served over 500 youth with 70% getting put back on track towards graduation. we are very excited this past summer when 10 care students got to participate in an internship program through the d.a.'s office wher
