the bayview district is right around 3%. you will see that, for instance, the northern district has a 31% rate, but what i am very proud of is when i took over at mta, i worked very closely with the captain. we were at a 46% rate back in may. we brought that down over the last several months, and it continues in a downward trend, and that has a lot to do with both her officers and the mta folks that work directly for me. the next slide explains the resources assigned to the mta from the police apartment. besides myself, the staff are comprised of one captain, one sergeant, and seven uniformed officers that are responsible for the -- the sergeant and seven officers are responsible for uniformed patrol. we have one sergeant and four k- 9 teams, comprised of an officer and their dog. they basically deal with issues relating to bomb threats and possible devices on our system. they have been highly successful. we utilize the dogs when we get reports of suspicious packages, and they are able to go in and make a determination if th

there was a dda for the bayview hunters point shipyard, and most people did not read it. and they passed on it. but there was a meeting being held right in this floor, with the board of supervisors and a young man whose father is the owner of the forty-niners. he was sitting right there. when it was pointed out to me where he was sitting, i went and sat next to him. i said to him, "sweetheart, here is the materials. these are the things that are of their of the hunters point shipyard. that is a superfund site, and the city is trying to tell you if it is a ground spill site. if i were you, knowing that that is a superfund site, you should not be going there, because the city has refused to request at least $6 billion to clean up the shipyard. the $18 million that is given to you will not even scratched the surface of the shipyard to be clean." i just wanted to say that. i did not like what i heard. i want you all to be proud of yourselves. you were not the ones responsible for the leaving of the forty-niners. president chiu: thank you. next speaker. >> good afternoon, supe

at 120%, 87% of the homes in the bayview more affordable for people at 120%. at 150%, people at 150% can afford 39% of the homes for sale which is a slightly higher percentage. it can afford almost 40% of all the homes and it means in five different approach especially those down in the southern part in those neighborhoods you can afford 80% to 90% of homes for sale. it depends on where you would like to live. on the ownership side, what are we producing? two of those three programs are no longer in existence. you have the below market rate ownership program. the agency used to build a% of affordable buildings. what are -- we are left with is the below market rate unit. over the past cannot -- nine years we build 760 ownership units, 84 units a year. you can see in the world of 124,000 units, our 84 units a year barely makes a dent. we have even fewer ownership units on line. we have 339 units in the pipeline. it will be a challenge as you can see. because there are not this kind of resources available for ownership production. it is a pie chart where you can

i have been a resident in the bayview for 25 years. i have been here a very long time. very few have preceded me. this project originated with redevelopment. redevelopment a star and our eyes, and we were wondering if they could ever came out. they came out with this project, and it was their idea to help redevelop our street. with the neighbors on the spot, we were able to win the award. with all the neighbors, and redevelopment, -- and i also want to thank one whirled designed -- this project came to light. we were able to get it on paper, and from there, it went to reality, with the help of the other departments. i also wanted knowledge the core members of the group that worked on this project. mardina, nimichelle, juan fuent, anna smith. we met with various residents on the block, at my house, month after month, to make this project work. there is so much love that goes out to redevelopment again, for all of the effort we put forth. it took six years to do this. some people said that it would never happen. in my heart and soul, i knew we were going to get this done.

i can remember when the bayview station used to be third and 20th, two blocks from my house. i have not noticed a degradation of police presence. supervisor mar: could staff provide a comment on that issue? >> good afternoon, supervisors. in the president of the neighborhood association on 23rd in kansas. i think that one thing that needs to be clear about this, from my perspective there has been a lot of marginal as asian in san francisco. it is generally the same thing as the density issues. i can touch on the police substation issue. there is no funding for what is there now. when we talk about branching out, you have to look at the octopus and where it goes beyond where it is. one of the facilities close by, the budget for the increased population, it is not easy. to come up with the funding for the project is one thing. services for the people living there is another ball game. i am not sure if that is going to address our concerns. there is a good slide in there. 23rd is the only one that crosses from that area to the other side. currently, we have an issue with what is

gina and i'm a district vice president for the ymca of san francisco and executive director of the bayview here tonight and to be part of the swearing-in ceremony for district attorney gascon. in my years of experience working in the community, i know that the most effective way to prevent crime is to invest in our city's young people now. most people think of the d.a.'s office as strictly a prosecutorial agency. i would like to convey today is that the d.a.'s office is so much more. for the last two years, the d.a.'s office has provided critical funding for the bayview hunters point ymca's center for academic re-entertry and empowerment, a truancy project in the form of a school that helps teens get back on track to finish their education. 35 youths have graduated from high school. note, a majority of these youths have been out of school for two years. over the past 2 1/2 years, we served over 500 youth with 70% getting put back on track towards graduation. we are very excited this past summer when 10 care students got to participate in an internship program through the d.a.'s office wher

we have served the bayview hunters point area since 1994. i'm here to speak on behalf of the community and the dozens of qualified out of four construction workers from the view hunters point that come into my office every day. apri san francisco, and many of those you see here today are supporters of strong and fair wages. this would to be a win for labor. i look forward to seeing those beautiful works of art that will sail majestically through our san francisco the. why not leave a positive effect on our community by a honoring bill local hire ordinance that many of us in this room have worked diligently to approve and preserve? the reason san francisco has a local high lot is that we believe that good faith efforts have historically failed for women, for minorities, for the colored community is throughout san francisco, and all of the disadvantaged residents that live here. the america's cup event authority has the opportunity to have a positive effect on our city. i implore you to honor our work, honor our mayor, and honor our laws. >> t
