i'm a resident of the bayview. i live there and currently working with performer arts workshop and these types of grants allow me to come into these schools and teach children and give them an opportunity where they may have not had it before. they get a chance to explore different art forms. i teach ballet, jazz, hip hop, dance. i give -- get an opportunity to spend a lot of time with the children and they get a chance to perform with me. a grant like this helps them perform in the neighborhood. i just want to say that i have also seen children grow a lot from this extensive who, that i do with them. i'm there year-round. i have seen children become better in the classroom and i have had a student that wouldn't speak at all and she's now volunteered to do that. getting an opportunity to work with these students gives them something they may not had going to school on a regular day. i appreciate being a part of this. >> i should also say armani students are performing on third street on march 20th on stage. we are

when we look at the need for the shelter in the bayview there's clearly one. we do a bio analysis and what we found was we count both shelter homeless and unsheltered homeless so folks who are living on the street as well. we found for the first time there were more individuals living on the street - can i - there were more individuals living on the street in bayview we counted 12 hundred and 74 that's a point on would particular night in january. the second was was district 6. so what are the services when you're talking about street homeless. there are no shelters in district 10. the pro dense church has offered space in the evening hours. those are mats in the floor of a church. there's no meals or showers they pack up their stuff every morning pr the current 11 hundred beds we have 3 shltsz south of market and 3 in the tenderloin. there's 11 hundred shelter beds nothing permanent in the bay. you're going to hear about the array of services we have in district 10 we have some support of housing sites. but we don't have anything for being able used for singl

i'm with bayview renaissance and member of the bayview association. i did bid on it and i didn't get awarded the contract because my bid was too high. i make-up 1 percent. i do final phase cleaning. i try to keep my core crew working which is out of the bay point and i'm looking for more opportunities to hiring more young men and women and get them active as employees. the butler enterprise what they are providing to us as small businesses is real significant because we don't have that level playing field as far as having more opportunities at jobs. this opportunity is being provided right in our own neighborhood. as a small business who has all it's i's dotted and t's crossed. i'm asking you see to it and not just myself and all that have their i's dotted and t's cross at bidding at a competitive process. not where you are making one mistake and you lose. but bid where we can make money to be stable to be able to sustain when these companies leave. we want to be able to stay in business and keep our core employees moving. that's all we are asking for

back is the bayview arts grants update. the puc made a commitment to bayview arts in san francisco. the city requires by city ordinance to contribute 2 percent cost for the arts commission in the city. in 2011 we actually passed a community benefit policy that alliance the art contributions with our goal which are to be a good neighbor and invest in arts and cultural neighborhoods that are impacted by our services and operations. before it would go to the arts commission and we didn't have about where these funds would be directed. we partner closely with the arts commission to administer art funding similar to how we partner to other agencies like the department of the environment, san francisco unified school district and the work force development. this year with our support, the community art and educational
