that we know that cause air quality issues in bayview. around this cbc stuff, community benefit recommendations, a lot of those things are under "ay." the ej analysis spoke a lot about the disproportionate social impacts in bayview as compared to the rest of the city, things like unemployment and poverty, child care access, and the cost of child care, so some of the recommendations included things like providing paid internships to 150 to 200 bayview residents annually. we currently do that through or city works program, or project pool program, and other internships that we sponsor as an agency. it talks about supporting the jobs training and opportunity program as well as the corresponding vtop initiative, and we do that as a community benefits team, large leah by working in close collaboration with cathy howe. if individuals have issues with child care or issues with soft skills development, then we work closely with infrastructure and with our community partners in bayview to eliminate some of those barriers so folks can participate i

i am also a native and resident of the bayview. i would like to echo the sentiments of jackie flynn and dr. honeycutt. i do believe that the plans we have seen are quite exceptional. i do believe that the bayview deserves to have nice places and go to relax and enjoy. open spaces with key. me personally, i grew up in the ingleside, ingleside terrace to be impact, where that particular part of the city was planned as a park like setting. i do know that that life has -- that my time there has affected my life in a very positive direction, seeing that i'm also a college graduate, but also, i would like to see that sort of lifestyle on this side of the city, as well. once again, i do believe it is okay to have a nice place in the bayview. i also think the plans we have seen today is exceptional. this group has done a very nice job to make sure that this side of the city is well developed and accessible. on that note, i say thank you very much for your time, and i appreciate yourest ares. >> great. thank you. >> thank you very much. >>

i'm a bayview resident for over 30 years, business owner and chair of the bayview community planning office. in reviewing the responses to comments and the larger e.i.r., i'm reminded of the early discussions when planning this project and a commitment to the triple bottom line. financial, environmental and social. i have no doubt that the financial side of things and the cost of the $4 billion promise have been fully evaluated. i'm not sure, however, that there's been a commitment to the two other elements. the environment of this project is not limited to the footprint of the plant. yet the review of the transportation and traffic impacts seem to be narrowly focused on just this project. there is no plan to mitigate or to deal with these impacts of traffic and transportation. the larger environment here is comprised of neighbourhoods and is no longer solely an industrial area. it is a variety of neighbourhoods, of people who have responsibilities, work and families, of professionals who make their way to work within and beyond the area. of parents who take their kids to school and

we had an open house at the bayview opera house. so we were able to talk through the various land use, parks and open space elements, the transportation elements. so we've had an opportunity to talk all of that through. we will be going back to the citizens advisory committee here shortly. we did a presentation before the ocii commission just yesterday. we're here today with you. and we will be talking tomorrow with the planning commission and on friday with the policy and governance committee of the m.t.a. so we have a lot of outreach and we'll continue to do outreach. the first question around, why are you doing this? in 2010, this project was approved to develop up to 5 million square feet of research and development at the shipyard. that approval was secured in the redevelopment plan. it had been cited under ceqa. and we're now wanting to exercise an opportunity to use that in a more creative way than one may anticipate using 5 million square feet as an additional campus. we'd like it reduce the amount of r & d that was original
