the first shooting happened wed esday night on main street in the bayview district a 24 year-old woman was shot in the lower body about an hour later police responded to a shooting in the area of caledonia and spare all streets in the mission district that's where they found a 39 year-old man shot from a vehicle driving by the 3rd shooting happened just before 9 on shaft or avenue in the bayview a 31 year-old man said 2 people approached him shot him took his backpack in his car keys. all 3 victims are expected to survive. anyone with information is asked to call the san francisco police department. well turning to our wildfire coverage now more people in san mateo and santa cruz counties can now return to their homes. cal fire removed additional evacuation warnings for the czu lightning complex fires at its peak. the fire displaced up to 77,000 people roughly 900 still cannot go back home the wildfires currently 97% contain full containment. it's expected by the weekend. it's been a long battle. well as for the other major bay area while fire complexes the lnu complex fire in the scu

over the last decade, the bayview fatalities have increased by 50%. as a practical matter, they are down this year because of covid-19, but we expect the traffic safety to return as soon as it increases. it is important that we continue to plan for the future. by the way, when the shelter-in-place order was issued around mid march, as of the end of april, fatalities had plummeted to zero in the bay area. but they've been increasing over the following months and increased over 50% so far. now, this is not just a regional problem. it is a national problem. and jurisdictions across the nation are adopting the goals of vision zero. you all know that vision zero means that the only justifiably traffic fatality number is zero. san francisco is a leader not just in the state, but around the region as well. now, m.t.c. believes that safety should be a top priority for our region. safety is very much a regional issue. and we wanted to supplement the -- by the vision zero in the region, but help the smaller jurisdictions that do not have a safety program in pla

it's a pretty unique park of the bayview, hunter's point area. it's just pretty much warehouses, meaning most of the people live here live in their basements. >> the line between city and nature, you don't hear sirens, it's quiet and even here, we have a community garden with strawberries and you can see all the birds and the bird migration in certain months, as well as the butterflies. it's really just kind of a little natural wilderness and oasis. as a kid, i as able to attend a lot of summer programs and camp that was publically funded with kids living in the neighborhood. the more accurate the census count, the more accurate the community resources are for the needs of the community. >> one thing i love about bayview hunter's point is the people. i feel like everybody outside of this neighborhood has a negative idea of, you know, how these people are and that everybody is dangerous or some kind of threat and it's just not true. everybody here is the same people, same people as out there. that's why i think everybody here deserves the same opp

we've seen community groups rise up to support our most vulnerable residents in the bayview and mission and other hard hit areas. we've seen the spirit of san francisco rise to meet this challenge to flatten the curve and then rise once again when the virus came back the second time. today, we are proposing a balanced budget that closes that $1.5 billion deficit. while still meeting the needs of our city. through all of this, we continue to protect our public workforce. let be clear, when we talk about 180,000 san franciscans applying for unemployment, not one of those people is doing so because of city cut their job. not one. as our economy plummeted, we wanted our city workers to focus on their health and the health of their families and on serving our residents during this crises. not on whether or not they would have a paycheck. with the budget i'm proposing today, i i want to continue to prevent all layoffs. but to do that, we need our labor partners to work with us. we need them to agree to delay any planned wage increases for two years. so far, we are having good conversations wi

>> bayview united. >> that's right. >> hi.'m chris mathers with channel 19, and you're watching coping with covid-19. today, i'm going to be talking about exercising during the pandemic. first, i'm going to tell you what i've been doing, and then i'm going to be checking in with some friends and family. i've been riding my bike. all i take is a pair of gloves and a mask if i come into contact with anyone. i try to ride my bike during the time i'm sheltering in place. i try to ride for at least 30 minutes. surfing is my other regular outdoor activity. california state guidelines recommend you don't drive more than ten minutes for a spot to exercise, and although i'm close to ocean beach, i'm a bit wary to go there, so i'm using the time to do some maintenance. filling in gouges and dings, and sanding it down. i'm also repairing holes in my suit. fellow sfgovtv producer chris took his first yoga lesson a couple of years ago and used to go to a class regularly before the lockdown. he and his wife set up a space in their garage fo

we have low exact testing sites set up in those neighborhoods, including the mission, bayview, and will continue to bring more testing sites to the southeast areas of the city, and we have increases our contact tracing to include spanish speakers, and nearly 50% of our hospitalization beds are occupied by people who identify as latino. but we must do more. and d.p.h. has committed to more services and resources to serve those communities that are most impacted by the virus. as we learn more about this virus, we will be targeted in our response as well as our reopening. we know that indoors is riskier than outdoors, which is why indoor services and in-person learning remain limited. we know that mixing households in large gatherings is risky, too, and, once again, we know that face coverings make so much difference. as people continue to move about the city in increased activities, we will likely experience an ongoing increase in cases, and to keep this reopening, to keep it moving forward, we need everyone's help to limit that spread. our hope, our progress, our hope of continuing to do

my name is matthew modine, and [inaudible] in bayview-hunters point called city of dreams. as someone who's had chronic asthma since childhood and bauc watching the challenges of the large number of kids in this program, i strongly urge that you pass this ordinance. the impact of pollution, in particular natural gas, has been established by previous commenters, but i'd like to comment as someone who worked in the restaurant industry for multiple decades. first off, anyone who's gone into a closed restaurant, open it up and see six to eight burners that have been burning on natural gas pilot lights for a six-to-eight-month closing understands the overturning the ordinance. it is really turning a blind eye to the need. first of all, i know that the supervisors are all really well versed in understanding the difference between constituents and industry groups, but i know that much of the opposition to this comes from industry groups but are more franchise chain operations that don't include those that have been really thoughtful on the impact, particularly of entrepreneurial f

most of my time has been spent working downtown in the bayview or mission district where i was able to see the effects of stress first that has affected our society. during this time, by biological father has also been part of the system for many, many years, suffering for drug addiction, and i've seen how the type of resources can help people in and out and making sure they get the help they needed. also moving forward in the fire department, i started to see how our public safety providers and service, those who work there are affected by it, and i wanted to make sure that we had thinged in place, not only for to help the citizens, but also to help the providers, whether they're nurses, doctors, sheriff's deputies, firefighters. so i can bring a talent to work with people collaboratively. i have a personal and professional perspective. i'm not afraid of constructive conflict, and also, you know, i wanted to make sure that our city understands the importance of that, as well, and know the stresses that affect our city, what are the challenges that affect our city, what organizations a
