one of the operators i'm thinking about has one in my area, one in the excelsior and bayview hunters point. they're often single-family homes that have been converted into usable residential care facilities. so really appreciate this legislation. i think during the 18 months that it would be behoove us -- and i'm sure supervisor mandelman and yee will engage with the department of public health to be sure the reimbursements are correct, where they're actually allocated and located, it would be good to know the total number of these in san francisco. i know you have percentages in terms of how many have been lost over the course of time. says there 101 assisted-living facilities and since 2002, 43 facilities we've lost 43. so i guess that would put the number close to the mid 60s, 70s remaining. so what can we do during that time to preserve those? and also what can we do during that time to increase those back up to where we were just not long ago, in 2012? i know there is a push and i know the announcement was made to use some of the small site acquisition money. i support that. i t

the mission, her deep love for community gave her all the skills she needed to help people in bayview hunters point and across san francisco. yolanda was one of the key leaders in developing the i.p.o. to organize a violence prevention program where formerly incarcerated transitional raised youth forgiven job training, city employment, and case management in order to maintain gainful employment and to reduce recidivism. they're all of this, she is amazing mother of her son, alonso, who is right here with us today, as well. she loves him more than anything she is currently with urban strategies and continuing to connect bayview residents to jobs, supportive services, and anything that they need. aside from today, one of my proudest moments in life was when i had the opportunity as a member of the board of supervisors to personally give her her degree on stage in the spring of 2017 at city college's graduation where she received her degrees in criminal justice and social behavioral science. give it up for that. residents who were skeptical about whether or not what happened in the filmore would happen in the bayview huntersty. i too was concerned about that. in fact, the public housing development i lived in had 300 units and after it was rebuilt through hope 6 which was a whole other program before hope s.f., there were only 200 units built. so clearly, everyone was not coming back. that's why when i first started as a commissioner on the san francisco redevelopment agency and we set out on our path to try and rebuild double rock and other places, it was important to me that we did it differently than we did in the past, so that residents played a critical role in not only deciding what fixtures and windows and how they wanted their community to be, but they remained a part of their communities. so that's exactly what we did. it did require a lot of patience and moving around and a number of things. yes, again, i know that people were a little uncertain as to whether or not we would get this project done because promises have been made over the years and promises not kept. but today a promise is kept. 4

we serve the community of bayview hunters point. i am not a transportation expert. we worked on two occasions with the two transportation authorities in san francisco. that is the sfmta on a project that was an 18 month project and most recently with the bayview community-based transportation project. specifically, the participator rebudget process recently. >> that being shade, bayview has five main lines 19, 54 and 29 and t line. for the four bus lines bayview happens to be the end of the line for those four bus lines. as up mentioned, commissioner sweet when you are at the end of the line most lightly it is not on time. we experience that a lot on the bayview particularly on the 19, 54 and the 29. also was mentioned similar to the hill it is photography issues which creates isolated community. the shuttle program was targets seniors and young people. as well as unreliability of muni on the evenings starting as early as 43. if i need to come downtown to get here by 530 i have to leave before 430. you have to wait half an hour to 45 minutes. this happens on most of

growing up i attended the public schools in the bayview-hunters point district. if a budget cut is in discussion it will have negative effects on the students. the schools are getting the short end of the stick whenever this happens it makes kids feel like nobody cares about them and just there is a lot of weight on their shoulders. they start to feel why should they care? it is not fair for the kids and it doesn't set them up for a successful future. this will impact my son and rest of the students at mlk because they will lose faculty members that they built a relationship with and growing up in these low income districts and going to valley, these relationships that you build with the counselors and teachers can make-or-break if you graduate or not. i have a lot of friends that have been through it as well. in addition to that, it can cut some of the extracurricular programs at mlk. like i mentioned, i went to valley. i lived in that neighborhood for 15 plus years. i have seen how much that school has changed. i walk my son to school and i attend the teacher c
