one of the most exciting days in my life was when i saw the first spade of derek being built -- with the city being built there, i could not wait to go play in a door read it. it brings enormous excitement for the players. for the fans, suddenly, they are sitting in this beautiful new arena. i saw the stable center pierre the first shovel, the first pylon put into the ground there. -- i saw the staples center. that was one of the most exciting days. i almost went there at least once a week to watch this rise from the ground. they have brought a different fan experience. the bay area is one of the great sports areas. the fans are fantastic, and i will tell you, warrior fans are enormous. i have not seen any better fans, but to be connected -- [applause] to be connected with two passionate owners and a passionate commissioner has really been the highlight of my life. it is up to us to build a basketball team which you will be proud of, and i'm talking about us internally. it is up to them to complete this project, and i know they will. the onus is not on us as owners. the onus is on us as playe

more importantly than just pointed out that fact, i appreciate this hearing will be about how the city can work to collaborate with the school district on closing the gap and i would like to be a co-sponsor for that hearing. one thing i will say about carloses that for the first time during his tenure, we actually narrowed the achievement gap for the first time in the school district's history and i think that's an important accomplishment. unfortunately, the gap is wide and a lot of work needs to be done. even with the limited resources, leadership has made an effort toward narrowing the gap would need to figure out how we can partner with the school district to close what is not just an achievement gap, but what is an opportunity gap. supervisor campos: there has been a proposal to transfer some of the human-rights responsibilities to the office of city administrator office of work-force development. i'm simply calling for a hearing on that matter without necessarily providing an opinion about that, just making sure the public is aware of what specifically is being proposed and what

be here to address you today. that is a great question. i want to start by thanking the city of san francisco for being a part of an incubator that we are a part of, the kiwi3 innovation center. it is located in san francisco next to the ucsf mission building. there are lots of biotechnology laboratories available. about 29 startup companies in that space developing innovative technologies. i am in biotechnology primarily. our technology creates oil using a biological process that takes waste carbon as an input. ideas such as ours often come from universities and it is a real benefit for us to be by ucsf to be part of the innovation center. not only is ucsf a part of that, but uc-berkeley and uc santa cruz. so we are part of this network. in addition, we have technology partners with berkeley laboratories. for us, a lot of the breakthroughs in our technology have really come from our partners that research laboratories and our staff. i would add to that, not only is that where it came from, but it is the type of environment that fosters creation. there is another benefit to b
