and thanks to our city librarian, we will be extending library hours throughout our city. (applause) >> we are going to make san francisco an even safer city. we developed a six-year police staff and fire staffing plan to train san francisco's first responders. over the next two years ~ san francisco will hire 300 new sworn police officers with six new academy classes. and we will add 120 firefighters with three new fire academy classes. with with 35 construction cranes across our skyline, you can see public and private construction jobs being created every day. in fact, an estimated 223,000 jobs will be created over the next 10 years from city projects alone. for our part, we're making a sound investment of $25.1 billion in capital projects over the next 10 years through our city's ten-year capital plan. this proposed budget includes unprecedented levels of general fund sub poderth for these smart capital investments. ~ support $72 million in year one and $105 million in year two. thank you, president david chiu, for your collaboration on our city's 10 year capital plan t

we are at a crossroads and we have to make a choice whether we want to be a city that continues to attractoung people here, whether we want to be a city that wants to continue to attract the creative class here, creative whether they are raiders or tech folks. the reason why so many people come is because we have those cultural resources including nightlife. if we continue on the path where we are which is to put continuing pressure on that and making it more harder and more complicated and more expensive for anyone to offer nightlife to our city, we are going to suffer in the long run and we'll become a beautiful and very quiet city and very peaceful for everyone but it won't be the interesting place that it is today. on the san francisco political spectrum of either liberal or more liberal or really liberal on one of those scales, by the san francisco standards i'm probably considered a fairly law & order kind of guy. i'm probably not by natural standards but by city standards. i think when it comes to nightlife, we view it too much from a law enforcement perspective. although law enforc

, so we are using it during the summer and other times throughout the year it is not being used. our city has fought with what i call the assets and in other words, the assets that could be utilized to increase our revenues for the city of san francisco. and i happen to be in a particularly unique situation having visited all of the schools because i have been working with the schools for over ten years and all of the schools since i am retired from the newspaper and i am a substitute teacher at this point and i am also retired from the teacher's association and i know that there are facilities and for example, washington high school has a view that overlooks golden gate park as a tremendous view of golden gate park and there was all of these, and lincoln right over here and has tremendous views looking over the pacific ocean and down, and going off of the auditor ums and going over, the kitchens... so what i am suggesting is that i feel that that is not just true with the school system. i suspect, that in other areas that we have these same what i will call unused assets. and what i am r

we believe that both enhancement would support the city's -- what should be the city's goal that everyone wants a job should be provided with the support and opportunity to obtain one. thank you supervisors. >> honorable supervisors i am alex with the geneva house and the power house is 113 year old building in the city. for 13 years we have been turning it into a community center. it's now owned by the recreation and parks department and we have been defunded and we're asking that funding be restored. with the car barn we are able to do multitude of things for families and nonprofits in excessor which are needy which are leaving. a lot of families are leaving. families are leaving. i don't want them to go. i want my family to stay. if the car barn is an entity that can help them. it can offer resources -- for three and a half years we have been offering resources to youth. right now we have two college programs in the journalism department at city college and one at lake high school. i can tell you the need. we have so many applicants because excessior has the second most amount of youth
