route 1 into dewey beach, bethany beach totally closed. wiped out. here's actually some pretty big news we just found out from the governor of delaware. even though there's a mandatory evacuation order in effect which means if you decided to stay, law enforcement most likely will not be able to come and get you. some people are trapped about 15 miles south of here, trapped in flooding. the national guard and local law enforcement are in the process of going in and trying to get them out. so some folks did not heed that warning. it's starting to get a little bit dicey as hurricane sandy moves a little closer to us. i want to show you all a little bit more of the boardwalk, kind of our setup here. if we take a look down this way towards where we're staying at the atlantic sands hotel, you can see completely deserted but not a ton of flooding on the boardwalk yet. that's some great news. keep in mind we're still about an hour away from high tide. if we go down -- excuse me. tripping over this cord here. if we go down over this way, you can see we've got

it's the beach chalet and gold park and at the end of ocean beach as well and i am glad laura is here and if you want amber you can as well. i wanted to say that the beach chalet and the park chalet and the new one you opened is incredible places and the beach chalet is at the western end of golden gate park. there are tremendous features of amazing history of san francisco with wpa created by lam bow in the 30's and the art work shows the favor of the time and incredible for fans to see that the wpa created these art projects and this is a dream they created when they were 24 and 25 years old at sf state. i am reading from the seven by seven magazine. and how was the idea for the beach chalet done? and in their early 20's at the time and this is lara speaking "i recently graduated from the beach chalet and came up for lease and we lived in the sunset and he had his eye on the spot for his dream restaurant. we were home brewing and decided brewing would be the perfect operation. he wrote the business plan for his final assignment at school and since i was a new mom i did leg work and

my hotel room is right on the beach. they've been loud all night long. wind gusts increasing throughout the night. the hotel is very secure. this hotel is made for this sort of stuff but definitely starting to feel a little bit of shaking during the big e gusts throughout the night. we have lots of rain, wind. this has been going on for 12 hours and already we're starting to see innocent flooding, significant pooling all along rehoboth beach, especially on the bay side. i would say yesterday around 4:00, we were over at the bayside of dewey beach. already starting to see some flooding there. that was before we'd even started to see any of these kinds of wind or any of this kind of rain. also seeing a lot of road closures already this morning. route 1 down to ocean city completely shut off, although we've seen lots of folks throughout the night trying to get out there, take some pictures. we've seen lots of boogie boarders trying to hit the surf earlier yesterday afternoon but of course this is so dangerous. this is under a mandatory evacuation order stil

a level two travel advisory has just been issued for rehoboth beach, dewey beach, all of the beaches along this part of the delaware coast. what that means is that nobody except for essential personnel are allowed to be driving on these roadways. for the most part it seems that so far people are taking that advisory to heart. i want to show you why this travel advisory has been implemented so early into this hurricane. take a look at this video that our photographer shot about two hours ago on the north side of rehoboth beach, the bay side. check out how much water he is driving through. folks, you still have about 36 hours to go, 36 more hours of solid rain, rising tides, heavier winds. it is just going to get so much worse. a little bit earlier before the travel advisory was implemented, we saw some folks trying to take some pictures, even get out into the surf as bryce harper would say. there probably will be a little clowns here but we won't judge them too much. 36 more hours to go. already we're seeing that kind of flooding on the bay side. i spoke with delaware's governor yeste
