kathryn mcfadden beatty, who passed away on april 27, 2019, at the age of 94. mrs. beatty was born in rock hill, south carolina, and was the daughter of the late roy d. fadden and preceded in death by her husband, cherry beatty, and her brother, first lieutenant robert eli mcfadden, who was killed in action during world war ii. mrs. beatty was a 1941 graduate of rock hill high school where she was a member of the following clubs. the national honor society, the glee club, the public speaking and drama club, the latin and french club, and was a junior assistant of the bearcat publication. she graduated from winthrop college in 1945 where she received a bachelor's degree in business and later a teaching degree. upon graduation she first worked as a paralegal and secretary before beginning her career as a teacher where she taught at rock hill high school, ebin port elementary, fort mill elementary, richmond drive elementary. during her teaching career, she was a member of the n.e.a. and the scea as a representative of the richmond drive elementary school in delta kappa

i can't speak for congresswoman beatty in columbus, but there are several new immigrants from countries in africa. and so i guess my question is, how are you linking to the national organizations or state organizations that these individuals belong to? how do you link to them? >> we are doing it in many different ways. just by way of example, when i was in chicago, i went to a focus group, where we were discussing the census with the polish community. and in their language, this was a group of focus, focus group with people that did not speak english but spoke polish so we have more than 100 focus groups across the nation where we are looking at these communities and talking with them and sometimes it's very important because in our instructions and in our outreach media, one word can matter. it could be that a translator would want to use this word, maybe with an academic background, but the community may have a different interpretation of that word. so not only in our materials and outreach, but particularly in our partnerships. we invite all those communities to partner with us. so i
