i'm becky quick along with andrew ross sorkin.. >> let's take a quick look at u.s. equity futures, which are higher this morning. the dow futures are up 33 points above fair value, after modest gains yesterday, which a lot of people will take as a big win since there were all these questions about what was happening in europe. those headlines are continuing today. european leaders preparing for the highly anticipated summit today. this morning angela merkel warning there will be no quick or easy solutions to the crisis. that is stating the obvious. she's out there trying to talk ahead of this and draw her lines in the sand. she's calling on leaders to avoid making rash promises. meantime, sprain's prime minister said he will ask leaders to use existing -- he warns spain will not be able to continue financing itself at current yields for a very long period of time. we know that's been a problem. he has been trying to step up pressure on other leaders. if you've been watching the european markets this morning, you'll see at this poi

i'm becky quick along with andrew ross sorkin and scott wapner.oe will be back from vacation on monday. we have a lot happening on this tri-morning. let's bring you up to speed. there's a global market rally taking place because of all what's happening in europe. eurozone leaders set to take emergency action to bring down borrowing costs for spain and italy. they agreed rescue finds can be used to stabilize bond markets without forcing countries to adopt extra austerity measures or economic reform. this is not something that was anticipated given all the tough talk out of germany. negotiations in brussels resulted in that agreement to create a single supervisory body. this is the first step. we'll have more from london in just a moment. let's take a look at the market response so far. the major european markets are in the green. euro has been bouncing back after trading below 1.25 for five days. bouncing back up to 1.2574. all of this coming as a surprise again because of what we've been hearing out of germany to this point. you can see the dow fu

when you get a shot of becky, you'll see that's not fake -- >> no, it's real. >> of becky or the capitalg you the closely watched may employment report. poll forecasters say the economy likely added 155,000 jobs last month. that has come down, the estimates have, with the adp number and other data points we've seen. it is up at least from 150,000 which was a paltry number we saw in april. the unemployment rate, which is i think actually prohibited from going up here between now and november seen holding steady -- >> blah, blah, blah. >> -- at 8.1%. our panel of experts is ready to give their final predictions but first our morning headlines. >> the futures have come under quite a bit of pressure this morning. this after new numbers from china showing weakness in demand for chinese products. that's started things and then we have all these concerns still about europe. right now you can see our futures are down by 108 points, the s&p off by over 15 points. these are moves over a percent lower for the s&p and nasdaq and the dow down by almost 0 .9%. the real concern is what's been happening

becky? >> steve, thank you very much. to see you again in few minutes. >> there are reports that spain could make a request for bank aid this weekend but the government says there's no pending announcement. an imf report scheduled to be released shows the lenders need 40 billion euros and 90 billion to clean up the sector. joining us, martin wolf and our guest host, buyion ibyron wien. martin, what do you think it means that spain could seek a bailout this weekend and what does it mean for the markets? >> it certainly sounds perfectly plausible we're hearing the same news. it's clear the spanish government itself cannot really borrow any more and the market can no longer inject equity into its banks. there's no doubt they need more money, whether the imf estimates are correct is really uncertain, it depends on so many things. if money is going to be found at all is going to have to come from outside spain so they're going to need a program. this, however, is not going to be enough i think because the spanish government is

cnbc's becky quick is here. becky, what have we got this morning? >> things are looking worse the longer we get into the morning. the dow futures are down by 30 or 35 points. a lot of these came when we got these economic numbers from the government. first of all, retail prices, a good indicator of the consumer, came down 2/3 of a percent and maybe consumers are getting rattled by the headlines, too. and we also got producer prices which tell us about inflation and it's down by 1% and that's a huge drop and this could be seen as a silver lining and energy prices have been down so sharply and that's what dragged producer prices down and the market started trading lower when we saw this. we also came in with continuing worries about what's been happening with europe. the bond market and the borrowing prices for spain and italy have continued to rise and that's's huge issue. it shows there's not a whole lot of confidence in loaning money to those two nations. in spain, we've seen the higher borrowing cost and the yield rising since the euro was created

i'm andrew ross sorkin with becky quick and joe kernen. higher right now. with testimony from jamie dimon out of the way, investors in global markets will turn their attention to the greek elections and eurozone. the "wall street journal" rompg that major foreign lenders are making plans to withdraw from the country if greece decides to leave the eurozone. germany's chancellor angela merkel says the debt crisis will be the focus of the g-20 summit in mexico this weekend, cabo, not a bad place for it, she'll be pushing germany's call for fiscal reforms as well as urging the u.s. and japan to tackle their own debt issues. >>> treasury secretary tim geithner calling on the eurozone to act quickly and urging more clarity with strength and rescue fund. many analysts are now saying to expect the currency to trade between 1.24 and 1.27 ahead of the greek vote. and spanish government bond yields rising above a very dangerous 7% level for the first time since the euro's inception, they have since come down. cnbc's michelle caruso-cabrera is in athe

cnbc's becky quick is here with more on that and the market rundown. becky, what does this mean? >> well, luke, the immediate reaction was one of some june lance from the markets. we saw green arrows immediately as people breathed this sigh of relief that, yes, greece decided they want to stay in the euro. and the markets thought that was great newsel until they thought about it for, oh, i don't know, maybe an hour or two. at this point, it looks like the dow is actually going to open lower, maybe down by 50 points. the as reality begins to sink in, people realize that even though greece has voted they want to stay in it, we have a series of guests we talked to this morning who point out this doesn't make any of the problems going away. it doesn't fix anything in the near-term or in the long-term. and that greece is still going to need an awful lot of help, and even with that help, there's not a lot of hope that they can turn things around and really make things stick without some major changes to their economy. that's what markets are focusing on already. and if you were looking

cnbc's becky quick is here.right, becky, how much is this europe today driving what you guys are buying and selling? >> you know, what's kind of crazy is europe is ultimately driving things, but, chuck, the market seems pretty determined today to try and stay positive, despite a lot of bad news that's been thrown its way. first of all, we got those weekly jobless claims that came out just about an hour ago. it showed that the weekly jobless claims here in the united states were 386,000. that was stronger than expected. they were only looking for about 370,000. and at this point, the trend is starting to get a little concerning, because we're moving closer to 400,000, then 350,000. that's the wrong direction. and so the market's dropped off, very briefly when we got those numbers today, we were looking at a negative open. since then, the market's come back. right now the dow's going to open up by about 16 to 20 points. this has been this game we're watching all morning long. there was concern when the spanish bon

cnbc's becky quick is here. becky, what do we got? you mentioned we're going to see what the market's reaction is to the fed. so far, not a whole heck of a lot. in fact, this is the first time we've had a fed meeting this it year that the market didn't trade up sharply. what it got from the fed was kind of what it was expecting, extended operation twist. but it also got more than that from the fed, a downgraded economic outlook. the fed is looking for the economy to turn down, also look worse than it was expecting for 2013 and 2014 and they're expecting the unemployment number to hang in there at higher levels, above 8% for the rest of the year. that's the concerning part. wall street hears the economy doesn't look great and not offering up any qe-3 extended ease. and then today get the jobless claims number right in line with expectations but those were pretty lousy expectations. a number of 387,000. that is still closer to 400,000 than the 350 we've been seeing before. still, at this point, the market is hanging in there. this wasn'
