cb cb cbs' -- abc's consumer correspondent becky worley joins us now. you've covered it for us for 15 years. how does this year compare to years past? >> we are seeing record spending. consumer confidence is high but what's really evolving is where that spending is happening. >> i imagine a lot of it is happening online because just me peeking around yesterday, it seemed like the deals weren't that different. >> that's exactly right, eva. the deals were very similar online and in store so seeing a significant uptick in online spending. adobe saying $7.8 billion was spent on thanksgiving and black friday online, and we really know that there are deals that are online that are limited quantity. they're like the doorbusters we see in the stores. those sold out in stores fast but i think they sold online faster this year, and one of the reasons, mobile shopping accounted for a third of all online shopping. it's a way of life for a lot of millennials to shop on the phone. >> if you get bored with your family, start shopping with your family. >> today we're s
