the book i'm working on right now is about a whale ship that left in 1832 from new bedford. they're about four or five people on board out of 22 that i have. interesting biographical information about, including the key characters. and i tell their story however the rest of them i know their height, their age, skin color. maybe if they were on another whaling ship but i don't know a lot about what happened before they got on that whale ship. and to be honest, if i did know, it maybe wouldn't be that interesting. and 11 of them died right away anyway. so they weren't major parts of the story. so i don't know if that's a satisfying answer, but my theory is that if you too many characters in a in a unified story that's of a short duration and if you give too many details about too many of them readers tend to get confused. this this story has a lot of twists and turns already. and i think minimizing the number of main characters you have to pay to made it easier to follow. follow them. also this book is so different from any other book i've written because all my books have lik
