chris page, bbc news, belfast. hello. we've two seasons in one day again today. and then temperatures will soar. yesterday, we had 30 degrees. once again through today, and for the rest of the week, we'll see temperatures in that sort of category in the hottest spots, the warmest spots. plenty of sunshine, as well. there are a few flies in the ointment. this is a weak weather front still across parts of northern scotland, just threatening a few showers as well in the south and the west of both england and wales. even the odd rumble of thunder, but the exception rather than the rule. what that will do is increase the humidity. the breeze is picking up a little in southern areas, as well. as it's an easterly, it's going to drag some low clouds and sea haar and fret close to the east coast of scotland and north—east england. so the highest temperatures for scotland further west today, perhaps 26, but widely the mid 20s. the high 20s possibly into the low 30s in the south and east. there's that low cloud, though, and it will creep further inland as we go through the

south—east corner, still some heat holding on. 30 degrees for london and for norwich, but more like 21 in belfasthat is a sign of things to come because as we head into the start of the new week, these very warm orange colours are replaced with yellow and blue colours on our airmass chart. something much, much cooler is heading our way now. as we head through monday, we will see a frontal system pushing southwards and eastwards some outbreaks of rain, some showers, some thunderstorms breaking out. quite a messy weather picture really on monday. but all the while, the warmth is going to be squeezed towards the south—east corner and further north and west, it will be turning cooler and fresher. so this cold front will be pushing its way south—eastwards through monday night and on into tuesday, taking showers or longer spells of rain with it. behind it, you can see the wind direction. the winds will be coming down from the north. could see some further very heavy rain actually feeding into northern parts of scotland. but even with some sunshine, a much cooler, fresherfeel, 15 degrees in aberdeen, 22

and still very respectable temperatures, 20 to 22 across england, further north around 17 or so in belfasts the forecast for sunday night. you can see sort of blobby rain moving across the country, showers and some thunderstorms. and with that air coming in from the south, it's still a really mild start to monday, 16 in london, about 15 in liverpool. now, monday into tuesday will be the transition zone to that more unsettled weather. this is actually a cold front crossing. the country could be quite gusty winds at a spell of heavy rain for a time before the skies brighten out towards the west. and we'll see sunny spells and showers, still holding on to the 20s, particularly across east anglia in the southeast, but more like 15 out towards the west. and then on tuesday, we are well and truly into what we call an atlantic regime. so the regime of winds and weather fronts sweeping off the ocean. so here it is. this is actually now at this stage the beginnings of that ex—tropical cyclone that swept across the northeast of america. temperatures by this stage, 16 to 18 degrees celsius, increasin
