we're not seeing the rush that we saw at the opening bell. it's really anyone's guess what will happen at the "closing bell." one thing is for sure, these are times that you need a neck brace for the whiplash that we got today. you know, i asked one trader, what the heck happened here today? the dow dropped 1,000 points at the open and made up a lot of ground here today. what happened? simply, he said, an overreaction. the selling, he called it, was foolish. it was robotic and computer driven. that's key because you have to think about it. a lot of the trading is computer driven and that's why it happened so fast, in a snap. the problem, once again here, at least at the open, was that we saw investors have a knee-jerk reaction to what happened to stocks in china. not necessarily the economy in china. yes, there is still fear. there's a lot of concern about china's economy slowing down but we saw that dramatic and radical drop of a dow at the beginning of the day, brooke, because it was an initial knee-jerk reaction to what happened in chinese

earnings reporting after the bell. can the catch up with ea? scarlet: good afternoon everyone, i am scarlet fu. rebounde have seen this around session highs as we had toward the close. can think some of that too warren buffett at his five. -- and his big buy. energy stocks are getting a bounce back after recent weakness. trading down about 14% from the 10 day average. keep in mind this is sluggish volume. come inside the bloomberg terminal. there are some technical factors at work. this is the s&p 500 on an intraday basis. the purple line at the bottom is the 200 and moving average. it is the average price over the last 200 and trading days. what is noteworthy here is right around early july the s&p 500 dipped below the 200 moving day average and closed below it. and then it has been a line of support since then. it in july 27, at august the seventh, but we have now held above it so far. keep watch for this level. we will see how much of that support level will hold. to treasuryver markets cause i know we will be talking about the fed and dr. g
