as we continue to face all of that, there's some troubling news from the santorum camp about their youngest, about bellathe santorums have gone to the hospital with their child who is of course, front and center in all of his thoughts and throughout this campaign. >> and another suspension of the campaign, at least from rick santorum's public appearances that you see, obviously caring for his daughter. i know everyone wishes her well. but this is a strategy now as he leaves texas, could make or break his campaign. a lot of folks, specially rnc establishment feel his campaign, for all intents and purposes is over. and we had reported he is possibly meeting with rick perry in the state of texas. he said it was a winner take all contest and that's not the case. in fact, there are proportional delegates, 47 elected by statewide vote. even if he is to do tremendously well, it looks really hard for him to see coming out of this as the nominee. >> thanks for that update. very happy easter to you. a happy passover to all of our friends as well. and that does it for this edition of "andrea mitchell reports." tho

part because of his 3-year-old daughter, bella's, troubles with a lifelong chromosomal disorder that had her in the hospital. she's out and doing better, and santorum had planned a rally at 2:00. there you see there's pictures of they're getting set up for what looks more like a layout for a press conference or a media availability than anything else. this is the first time that santorum's been on the campaign trail since last week when he was barraged with rampant speculation about dropping out of the race. at this event he will presumably make it clear whether or not he is staying in the race. he does still believe that while improbable, he can still compete in the race, and if he wins pennsylvania, go on and perhaps compete in texas and stay on, but they are reasonable about it. they've been practical, and there's also a very real possibility that rick santorum
