"countdown to the closing bell" starts right now. good afternoon, everybody, i am actually webster in this afternoon for liz claman. the last hour of trading and things have deteriorated over the last hour or so. we are bouncing back a little. most of the dow 30 as you can see is in the red. mcdonald's one of the key bright spots, verizon endocrine that is wal-mart. very few and far between. we are off of the session lows, down 105 points coming back from there down half a percent. the s&p down 10% of the nasdaq also up about a third of a percent. you don't need to look any further than the financials, all red, the market leader until recently. today's weakness across-the-board, goldman sachs up 2%, goldma morgan stanley al. ubs also down over 2%. gas builders the best performers in 2012, but as you can see red arrow is. toll brothers all moving down two or 3% today. as for stocks in the skid, volatility is picking up, some analysts predicting, looking for downside protection. the vix jumping almost 8%, up nearly 2.5 points. breaking
