we start out at newark and 630 in belmar but 62 and islip. we are in the 50s and everyone is starting out very nicely. we will be above average yet again later on this afternoon. as i just mentioned, clouds are in place. winds are relatively light at the moment but they will pick up and speed as we go through the afternoon. it will make for a breezy day across the region. here is the cold front. the main front is moving to the southeast with a few showers coming through connecticut. a couple of sprinkles across the northern part of the state. we will have mostly sunny skies as we move along in the middle part of the day and that will help move temperatures up nicely. we have a front starting out to the west and we will have a much needed rainfall. it's a normal precipitation and it's a little bit below normal. it's a warm hi and we'll see today's high in the upper 60s low 70s. tomorrow the sunshine remains with temperatures dropping to the 60s and we will be back into the 70s on thursday. rain is arriving on thursday on friday and we were mos

back to 70 at belmar. we're up two to 10 degrees in a lot of the area from 24 hours ago. we're keeping that south wind in play for most locales for the first half of tonight. then it should switch off to the tomorrow with a cool front that's dropping down from the north. here's fox 5 sky guardian. nothing going on tonight. don't expect any rain for most of the week. next chance of showers is likely to hold off until later thursday night and friday. if you see some showers right along the canadian-u.s. border. there's a weak storm center that will be sliding down. the cold front crosses the area. that will bring the cloud cover for a partial of tonight and the first part of tomorrow morning. then it should move along. we'll enjoy a lot of sunshine. there are showers from the plains states to the gulf coast. you've been hearing about houston potentially in your news reports. they've incredible amounts of rain there. that system is going to take days to get to us. not likely to get here until friday. a bit of cloud cover tomorrow morning. 50s out the door. upper 50s in the c

that's the same number for the high in newark and belmar came in in the 50s as well as the tri-state area. temperatures right now, we're sitting at the 57 in central park, if we can -- there we go. 57 in central park. 55 in newark. it's 52 in islip. we cooled it down to the 40s towards montauk at the moment. these numbers are running slightly cooler than they were this time last night. and fortunately, we have light winds at the moment. monticello will be in the 20s. the national weather service has issued a freeze warning for the counties shaded to the north here. it looks like a frost advisory for interior new jersey. this starts at midnight in some locations and goes until 9:00 tomorrow morning. area-wide, things are quiet. over the northeast here, we have high pressure in control. there is a weak disturbance that's passing over western portions of new york as well as over towards central pennsylvania. that's going to pass through the area tonight. it will provide us with cloud cover. overall we should stay dry. the clouds will be out of here by tomorrow morning. elsewhere across

bridge and somerville will start dropping in to the 30s after midnight. 40 degrees in islip. 43 in belmar. sunshine across the board tomorrow, easy forecast. 62 at 4:00. and in to the upper 50s during nice. this is a satellite and radar. no clouds there. dominant weather feature, this high pressure over eastern east coast. there is a low offshore right here. and it's making for some gusty maybe a few patchy clouds. otherwise, we really have a shield that's fending off any storms from the south and from the west. that's the good news. the flipside is remember, getting our wind flow from the north and east for the most part, so cooler air is coming in. our warmup is very gradual. eventually these winds will turn around and we'll get access to some of the 70s over the middle of the country and ohio valley. but that's not till late in the weekend and in to monday as well. so for the time being, just have to monitor this storm offshore for a little extra breeze along the coast. maybe a couple patchy clouds. otherwise mild, beautiful, high and dry as we go in to the upcoming weekend. remember a
