after seeing scenes like this, belmar has introduced an ordinance that would ban tents and canopies on the beach starting in 2018. >> over the past three years we've seen an increase in these large tents on the beach at belmar. it's more appropriate for a campground or backyard barbecue or tailgating. but they're not really appropriate for the beach. we want to keep a more traditional beach umbrella. >> you there are other beaches where the tents work on that aren't as crowded. for example island beach state park, you could drive your car on the beach. same thing with a ten. it really starts to crowd out. we've her from lifeguards that there's a concern regarding public safety with their large tents it abstracts the view of potential swimmer in distress. >> i've only seen one tent on the beach today. it gets worse on the weekends. people come setting up huge tents with spread some big chairs and tables. if you want to be in your living room, why not stay in your living her. on the other hand, how much longer can the list of banned things on new jersey beaches get? >> and they have a ri
