i'm going to bring in deputy national security adviser ben rhodes. he joins me now from the white house. ben, good morning to you. >> good morning, chuck. >> let's start with what is the military mission here? these air strikes have begun. explain the mission. is this about giving the kurds space to fight their own battle with isis? >> well, yes, chuck. the fact of the matter is we have people in erbil. if isis is allowed to advance any more towards erbil, we believe it could put the city at risk and that puts our people at risk. what the president has made clear is we are going to take limited air strikes as necessary so that there's a perimeter around erbil and the kurdish forces are engaged with isil in that fight. >> if this doesn't work and they're still able to continue this slow march, it frankly hasn't been -- in military terms it hasn't been slow, it's actually very speedy with what isis is able to do. if this doesn't work, is the president prepared to do more to try to stop isis? >> well, chuck, we're confident that the combination of u.s.

right now we have ben on the line -- ben, you have been around for a long time and interviewed probablyck industry and the comedians and that sort of thing. what are your thoughts today? >> well, i'm still shocked. because he was one of those guys i think of as performers who was always on. he was never off stage, wherever he was. he was so important in san francisco. raging from the club 70 in the '70s, the comedy club, that is, to just being a part of the community. and he was very giving, whether it was halloween treats out of his home in the sea crest area or being a board member of walden house and now health right 360. i hit him back in the late '70s when he was succeeding with mork and mindy for a cover story for parade. and i had a chance to interview him for about 20 years later for which he had won his oscar for "good will hunting." and we celebrated him with an on-stage interview. and he re-created what it was like to receive his oscar on acid. that was the kind of comedy only he could pull off. >> you know, you mentioned he was always on, and maybe that was part of the probl

ben carson, dr. ben carson, stat, stat. we need you to provide some reasoned perspective on ebola. and tonight, that gentleman will. welcome, everybody. i'm neil cavuto. coming to an airport near you. major carriers continue to bring passengers in from countries right now dealing with the ebola outbreak, including nigeria, where there was a second death reported today. so to count, delta, united, air france, they're all still flying there and still bringing passengers from there here. with stops today in atlanta, new york and houston, more expected in the coming days. should we be worried? mark murphy is on the phone. mark, wouldn't the better part of valor be to cool snit >> i would say yes if they were flying directly from those hot zones into the u.s. but the airlines you're talking about, the u.s. carriers that fly nonstop, they're coming out of nigeria and only two reported cases in terms of deaths and just a handful of infections. so it's a large country. they're monitoring it. and i would tell you that the airlines aren't going to put people in danger if they don't need to.

we're joined by ben ferguson and by van jones, co-host of cnn's "crossfire."en, we got so many people riled up, we brought you back to get them riled up again. what about these people say showing force and trying to exert their right. isn't that kind of thing that pro gun activists worry about? isn't that why we're seeing an increase in gun sales? >> i think it's something to be concerned about. i also think that most of the people that are going out and buying guns are people that are willing to go through a background check that are law-abiding citizens that don't know where these protests are going to end up. just about every night we've had people that have been shot, not by the police in these protests that have been happening. we see a gang culture that is rising up and recruitment, as many people have talked about today. if i lived in ferguson and i didn't own a gun, i'm a citizen, a law-abiding citizen, i would probably go buy one to protect my family and my home just in case. i don't blame that for that at all. >> ben, let me ask you this question. >>
