ben casselman, your response.st: i think it is important to look at the longer-term as well as the short term. i think that is part of what the caller was maybe getting on there. we focus on the short month-to-month numbers. 215,000 this month, 230,000 before. i think the caller is right that we need to focus a little bit and step back, on what is sort of the larger situation. the long run situation is clear right now. the economy is getting steadily better. the job market in particular. not experienced the kind of rapid or broad-based growth a lot of people were hurt -- hoping for in the aftermath of the recession. that left a lot of people feeling like they are being left out. you cited my story earlier that there are people being left behind by the recovery. we highlighted specifically a few different groups. but i think a lot of people feel like the recovery is not fully reached them. middle-class incomes have been slow to rebound. pretty stagnant. wages have been pretty stagnant. is not a sense of progress th
