time to go to ben cohen right now. he's a big bernie sanders backer. big crowds here. , the last time i had you on you said the supporters would show up. indeed they did in iowa and they seem to be here in throngs here. now the pressure is on to win big. what do you think of that? >> bernie's on fire. you know the reality as you can see for both the republicans and the democrats is that people have had it with politics as usual. he's connecting, especially with younger voters who are attracted to his authenticity and the fact that he's not bought and paid for by the major corporations and the billionaires. >> as we discussed last time he's very consistent. i talked to him back in the days when he was mayor of vermont. there's no mistaking the fact that he is what he says he is, but even some of his most supporters he acted on these high taxes that we'd go broke. what do you think? >> i think it's really important to understand that the way his initiatives are financed are by closing tax loopholes on corporations such as when they offshore their taxes, by increasing taxe

what is a fair tax rate to ben cohen? need to understand is that when we talk about a top tax rate, it is a marginal tax rate. when you raise the top tax rate, it doesn't mean the average person is going to pay whatever rate -- neil: you are quite right. what do you think it should be? >> i don't know. you know, to be quite frank, for a person who's wealthy, who's got enough money to meet all their needs, what is the difference what it is? neil: it makes a big difference whether you're paying for that or 60 under 70%? >> how many are you going to buy? >> are you saying that one of the 1% are not all buying 5% megayacht. if you had the billionaire crowd out of it, what is the top rate? >> you know, i don't know what the right number is. it is a number that allows their country to provide a college education for all those people who deserve to have one regardless of income. it is a number that allows us to rebuild our infrastructure and create millions of jobs by doing that. it is the number that is needed in order to get a

ben cohen gave you colorful explanation he developed called bernie's yearning.e're going to the clip. >> a huge disk of solid chocolate, covers the entire top of the pint. and below that is just plain mint ice cream. and that huge chocolate disk represents the major majority of the financial gains since the end of the recession that have gone to the top 1%. dierdre: so, neil, i want to know what people are telling you in iowa about senator sanders because his critics are calling his plan a wealth redistribution plan? >> well, you know, mr. cohen's point there, he said that chocolate disk on top, you smash it, into a mill pieces and stir it around with the mint chocolate ice cream, you have to smash it for the 1%. dierdre: revolution in a pint, right? >> exactly. sort of like high calorie metaphor but having said that, that is really the theme of bernie sanders. now, give bernie credit where it's due. he has been consistent about this he has not packed away from it. recently a lot of programs he is espousing paying for kids college and all of that, you can't get

ben cohen, a big backer, bipartisan raging about the ice cream that ben and jerry make. of course, sold the company. ben cohen's a big bernie sanders supporter. i don't know if it was your new flavor that did the trick, ben cohen -- [laughter] but you've got to be happy with what you're hearing and seeing tonight. what do you make of it? >> well, i'll take credit for a percentage point. [laughter] in iowa i took credit for .2 percentage points. neil: oh, that's pretty clever. i know where you're going here. when you look at this, ben, here is a candidate who is not making any bones about the fact he wants to raise taxes, largely on the upper income. he has spread he wants -- he has said he wants to spread it to the middle class. he's talking a lot more government. you're okay with that, and it appears a good many democrats in the state of new hampshire are okay with that, and you argue nationally they'll be okay with that. but you might have just heard what john sununu was saying, the party establishment will do anything it can to prevent him from winning that nomination

ben and jerry's, the founders, the ice-cream company, they are bernie sanders supporters, ben cohen,morning on the fox business network. >> it is the marginal tax rate. of to a certain amount 15%. and only seeing your highest rate. and making over $300,000, $1 million. it is not 92% of the entire income. maria: are you prepared to pay it? >> if that is what everyone else is paying a i am happy to do it. stuart: i feel so much better. they are only going to take 90% of my in, every dollar i make over what i make now. i feel so much better. do you? gerri: this is an entrepreneur willing to give all away and he is wrong on one fact. the top income level, 39.6% goes into effect at income levels of $406,000. we have a progressive tax income, people who make lots of money, the vast majority of those earnings are taxed at the top tax rate. bernie wants 92%. why work? stuart: why would you? i blew a gasket and the 9:00 hour when a young lady suggested i should be paying more than the 60% tax. >> this diss incentivizes anybody who has a good idea from getting out and pursuing. ben and jerry,
