and finding those villains is ben mckenzie. ben joins us live this morning from new york. to see you. >> good morning. thanks for having me. >> we're ulseeks ited about this show. we've been watching it here. a lot of us talk about in the newsroom. i know that -- you were on the o.c. people know you from there. you were kind of a young kid, barely out of your teens. now you are joining a very well- established franchise. did you go after that role or did they come get you? in a way they came after me. i worked with bruno heller who created gotham on a pilot last year that didn't go to series but he wrote this character with me in mind and sent the script to me earlier this year. he said, take a look and, you know, we just started talking about it. he had already written the script and we just started from there. it was incredibly flattering that he thought i could pull it off. i think he was more sure that i could pull it off more than i was. but, you know, it's been a great collaborative process ever since. and i think, you know, you see the cast of actors around me and i
