ben rosenfield, city controller. we have a presentation that you've all been provided and will pull up on the screen. so as you're aware, the charter requires the controller's office to provide a report to the board of supervisors on the revenue assumptions included within the mayor's budget and then we use this report, which we call the revenue letter, for baseline requirements, baseline policies and the rest. the report is online and it's in the package and i'll walk through the highlights in the presentation and then i believe the mayor's budget director will provide an overview from the mayor's office on the proposed budget. so to start with, in summary, the budget -- the proposed budget before you relies on estimates that we believe to be reasonable regarding economic and financial activities in the city. generally speaking, it assumes a continued recovery, although a slow one in key parts of our economy. and the tax revenues that result from it. a couple of their -- there are significant uncertainties out there
