what was happening out in the benicia area is the strong winds. you can see that smoke plume.smoke is blowing horizontal to the ground. winds are blowing 25 to 30 miles per hour. see how brown it is. some green out there a couple weeks ago, but you are seeing lots of brown. the grass and weeds are dried out and because of the higher humidity, that helped firefighters get a handle on this. 45% humidity in the fire zone. that's pretty high for this time of day for this area. winds rest at 28. they were gusting to above 30 and temperature 67 degrees. just shows you how important weather conditions are. the winds are bad, but when it's a cool, moist wind like that, it's not the end of the world. they have a good handle on the fire. when i come back, we'll talk about a change. today was the coolest day of the week. i'll see you back here. >> breaking news out of the east bay. there's a medical emergency at the downtown hayward bart station and that stopped northbound trains. a fire captain told crews, they are trying to rescue a person. at this point, northbound trains will not be
