live in benicia claudine wong. >> stay warm out there. thank you. >>> a hard freeze warning will expire across the bay area at 9:00 this morning. one of the coldest places is napa where overnight temperatures dipped into the 20s. while we hear exposed pipes need insulation during the winter, even interior pipes that are protected by attic walls are springing leaks. plumbers have been responding to several calls. >> when you turn on the faucet in a different room, you can hear it through the walls. you should listen to that. turn off all the tvs and stereos and listen for that noise. >> hardware stores are also seeing a run on installation materials as people in napa try to protect their properties from freeze and potential water damage. meantime city crews say cold weather is partly to blame for a water main break in martinez. the brakes sent water pouring out into the street on martinez avenue. the problem started about 9:30 last night. at one point 50 homes were without water. but its back on now. crews were able to fix the water main o

live federal benicia -- live from benicia i'm tara moriarty. >>> animal control officers found what appears to be a major dog fighting operation. the ktvu news cameras were given exclusive access. 11 dogs were found at a home while they were serving an unrelated search warrant. they found pit bulls changed up with -- chained up with no food or water. a lot were wounded or injured. and they found treadmills and weighted vests to train dogs to fight. and they also found medical supplies for treating their wounds. >> we've had a fair number maybe a dozen or so dead pit bulls in this neighborhood recover within the past couple of months. >> oakland animal services interim director says this is one of the biggest dog fighting operations he has ever seen. police say a family with children appears to have lived at that house but no one was home during that raid and no arrests have been made. all of the dogs are now being treated at oakland animal services. >>> mean tile a pack of wild dogs are suspected of attacking dozens of sheep in a livestock auction yard. a rancher says 80 sheep were attacked

today investigators are going to be back on the scene here at this target store in benicia. they want to take a closer look at that surveillance video. but the video they've already seen is enough to put a damper on anyone's christmas joy. benicia police say this surveillance video caught a man breaking into not one but three different cars early monday morning. >> in one of the videos you can actually see him putting pressure on the -- pry tools and then leaning into the window. and snapping the window. >> reporter: one of those cars belonged to marcie moriarty. >> i was just crushed and shock asked denver stated. >> reporter: moriarty had her car packed with difficults to donate to families at oakland's children's hospital. she regrets packing the gifts in the car the night before but she believed her neighborhood was safe. >> they would have had to open the door and come in. there was in way they could have just reached in and grabbed them. >> reporter: man then used a stolen gift card at this vallejo target. earning this suspect the enema mouse title only -- infamous tit

police say this early morning fire in benicia has turned fatal. the place broke out around 2:00 this morning at a home when firefighters pulled out a couple and sent them to st. francis hospital in san francisco where one of them died the authorities are awaiting to notify family before they identify the victim. officials say a newspaper delivery person smelled smoke and called the fire department. you could see the couple's dog safely rescue asked taken to a vet. the cause is under investigation. >> san francisco police are hoping a bumper left at the scene of a hit-and-run accident will lead to the driver on clinton park. the man is being treated at san francisco general hospital with head enskies. >> police in hayward investigating after a driver lit a child in a crosswalk. the accident happened at 8:00 this morning at the off-ramp from highway nato. these are pictures of the scene. the child had only minor injuries and the cause is not known. >> happening now, the weather is cooperating in idaho for crews to resume their search for missing bay
