oining me, from dreamforce 2014, mark benioff. o great to be here at one of the biggest conferences in the world. how many people are here today? >> 145,000 registered to attend physically. 3 million have already attended online. >> i will never forget the first time i saw your keynote. it was like seeing moses part the red sea. how much practice goes into hat? >> this year, i had not been on tour, so it was a new show, and i had to practice it quite a bit. >> you announced a cloud-based analytic platform. what does it give to your customers that they did not have? >> analytics is a category that is rich for innovation. a lot of companies have sat on their kingdoms too long and kept the status quo going. there's a long list of companies. one of those areas is analytics. it is a new way to look at it with mobile visualization, analytics for the rest of us. >> there are myths that are boiled down into legend. what is the myth of mark and what is the reality? >> the reality is that this took a long time. they underestimate what you c

now other tech leaders are following benioff's lead.he young ceo jeremy stoppelman says his company will expand only in states that don't pass such laws. max levchin, paypal's co-founder weighed in saying indiana's decision is, quote, a signal that discrimination is welcomed in that state. now importantly, the governor's office did tell us that this bill is not about permitting discrimination. the governor's office saying that the bill does not apply to disputes between private parties unless a government action is involved. still, benioff clearly isn't backing down from this fight. on twitter he told the tech industry to keep paying attention to what is happening in indiana and how it will impact its employees and customers. guys, back to you. >> thank you, josh. they say it's not about discrimination but there's a story in the "indianapolis star" noting three of the lobbyists who pushed hardest for the gay marriage ban last year that failed were among the 70 or 80 guests invited to the bill signing. so it's people who have concerns ab

mark benioff has been adamant that tech companies need to do more. what do you think? >> i think that is basically -- that is basically right. i think that is basically true. a lot of the new startups are brand-new. but a big part of this is what the big companies do. and the sort of maturation of companies when they go from being startups to being big companies, they got to step up on their responsibilities. i think that is a big deal. >> what about inclusion and diversity, something else that you and laura have been giving to? why is inclusion important in silicon valley? >> i believe tech is inherently inclusionary. tech wants to bring people in. tech wants to include as many people as possible. the reason i am so confident about that is because of the incredible coverage that -- incredible people in silicon valley from the incredible number of countries. the challenge is, we are still underrepresented when it comes especially to women, and then in the u.s. when it comes to african-americans and latinos. >> should women ask for raises if they think they deserve one?

cory: i have been particularly amazed at the this role reaction from mark benioff of salesforce.e posted on facebook late last night, and in part, he wrote in response to this unjust legislation, we are reducing employee travel to indianapolis and canceling all marketing events that require customers to travel those that are impacted by the discriminatory environment and want to move out of indiana. jerry, to me, this is kind of unprecedented in modern times, the ceo of one of the biggest software companies in the world is saying i'm going to help people leave the state because of a law they just passed. jerry: well, that is certainly a strong statement and one that is getting a lot of attention both in government and in the private sector. there has been a lot of comment by businesses about the problems that this legislation is perceived to cause, and i say perceived because the legislation itself, the bill, is really unclear. it does not directly address anything having to do with groups that would be discriminated against or not. it basically sets forth judicial standards by w
