jackie benson has details. >> reporter: someone spray painted two sets of speed enforcement cameras located near the palisades pool in the cabin john area of montgomery county. it most likely happened overnight and rendered the cameras useless. montgomery county police say they take incidents of speed camera vandal almost very seriously. police say speed enforcement cameras are installed at the request of the community and with the approval of a citizen advisory panel made up of residents from across the county. each speeding ticket costs $40. drivers vary in their tolerance for the devices. >> you are supposed to follow the law. if you are speeding and they create a dangerous situation. >> not have a speed camera there to at least, if nothing else, make the people slow down. >> i think they are a frustrating way for the government to make money. >> no one approved of someone taking out their frustrations with spray paint. jacqui bensen,news4. >>> dozens of new bus stops in the district have been vandalized in recent days. somebody is shattering the clear glass panels. the damage has been r

jackie benson explains. >> reporter: the ntsb's move clears the way for work to begin on the section of track between the fort totten and tacoma station where june's deadly crash happened. nine people died when two red line trains collided. metro general manager john cato said the repair work will take 30 days. >> once we complete the repairs, we will be able to operate the service at normal speed. and keeping normal schedule. >> reporter: currently, metro trains are required to run at a greatly-reduced speed, about 15 miles per hour through the affected area. riders have been patient, well aware of the reason for the delay. >> very slow sometimes. not very reliable getting downtown. >> reporter: metro's gm said ntsb investigators have removed train control modules from the affected area for examination. >> i have nonformation of the results of those tests. when that is decided, and if any problems are found or any areas that they wish for us to do additional work, they will communicate that to us. and to the public at the same time. >> rorter: metro says it will keep riders updated
