jd bergeron, the ceo of international bird rescue has been a part of that project. he's joining us now live here on the five o'clock news and jd thanks so much for taking the time here. how many pelicans is international bird rescue taken in what part of california are they coming from? yeah thanks for having us on we have taken in 347 birds. so about half of them that have come into care since the beginning of this, which started in about may we have a center in los angeles, which takes care of southern california, and we have a northern california center, which had a much smaller number. so really, the majority of these birds do come from san diego upwards to central california. what is happening here? are we rented? these birds are sick. but this is not some type of illness. what kind of condition are the birds in? and when they are being brought in unfortunately, it's becoming a bit like a mystery tv show. um, the one thing that they all have in common is symptoms of starvation, emaciation dehydration, very typical things to birds that are not eating enough. the
