here in berkeley. the balcony is on the fourth floor of the top story of this apparently building. police say five people died and eight people are injured this is collapse of the apartment building balcony. they are all trauma cases and potentially life-threatening. a number of young irish citizens died today following the collapse of the balcony. >> it's a difficult scene, you know, unfortunately it's going to be a more difficult day for the families of the victims involved in this. but, you know, the professionalism of our officers and paramedics is high and they did what they could to assist the people involved. >> a lot of kids don't have shoes because they weren't allowed back into their apartments. so a couple of the women are barefoot with blood on their knees and shirts. they are all trying to figure out who was hurt and how bad and where are they. >> reporter: that man was in this area when the balcony collapsed. he said he was sitting in his car after a movie when a couple of people in their

kpix 5's da lin joins us live from berkeley, the coroner's office just released its report today. da. >> reporter: that's right. they are saying that all 6 victims died of multiple blunt traumatic injuries from the 50- foot fall. now, this has been a traumatizing experience for everyone involved including the first responders. many of whom are now getting counseling. family and friends of the six victims cried as they stood at a makeshift memorial. some of them added new photos to the growing shrine. others prayed for the seven survivors in the hospital. this man still has a hospital visitor sticker on his shirt. they had just come from visiting their friend at john muir hospital. all of them too upset to talk on camera. stephanie came to pay her respects to two friends who died in the collapse. she went to school with ashley donohoe of rohnert park and came to know ashley's cousin oliva burke who died here tuesday. >> i mean, ashley, we all have good memories. she was always happy and friendly. i met oliva last summer, too. and then it's just, you know, they were so young. >> rep
