a man has been arrested accused of robbing a bank in berkeley. police say 57 year old alden moore slipped a teller a note demanding cash at the mechanic's bank on shattuck avenue yesterday afternoon. officers say he has previously been convicted for robbing another bank. he was arrested just a short time later at the downtown berkeley. bart station. police in the east bay have arrested a man suspected of vandalizing a newly opened bar. police arrested 65 year old eladio santana on suspicion of grand theft and vandalism. they say santana vandalized and stole power tools from bentley's mobile bar in downtown martinez just days after his grand opening. he's also accused of tampering with the water and internet lines. santana has prior convictions for vandalism and arson. here's a live look right now. what could be a contentious town hall meeting in vallejo. that's where police are answering are about to field questions from residents about a proposed plan to reduce some services. the proposal stems from the ongoing staffing challenges facing the pol

so at berkeley lab and uc berkeley, we cracked the genetic code to trick bacteria like e coli to turnther renewable carb sources into the building blocks for new plastics that are easier and cheaper to recycle. as you mentioned, these plastics are called poly amines or pdx. we think that about 10% of all plastics can be replaced with pvcs, where we would look to use them in things like mattresses, furniture, shoes or even clothing. we also found that these bio alternatives are greener and cheaper than petrochemicals. once we advanced to production scale and we're currently partnering with companies to develop these plastics for use in their products. we give them materials choices that are more sustainable and more recycling and efficient options to reuse those materials in their manufacturing and subsequently. so i mean, i think people are listening to this and they hear, well, you know, obviously this is a greener alternative when it comes to plastics here. but but will these biological alternatives be less expensive than plastics created using petrol chemicals, especially when you
