that fire started shortly before seven o'clock last night on shasta road in the berkeley hills to residentsn their own and were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and minor burns. two firefighters were also injured. battling the flames. fire crews controlled that fire in about 90 minutes. the cause of the fire remains under investigation tonight. authorities say family members used the find my iphone feature to get help. after a woman's car plunged 200 ft down the side of a mountain. rescuers were called to the scene in san bernardino in southern california yesterday morning, and fire officials say it appears that the woman crashed her car sunday night after leaving a family christmas party relatives who weren't able to reach her on monday used the find my iphone feature to determine her location. emergency workers found her and she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. in and around the bay area. today we started out with a lot of wet weather. we started out with winds. high surf advisory snow in the sierra will finally tapering off this afternoon, and now he a

your view outside right now from berkeley hills camera looking absolutely crystal clear.f this camera is good enough to show you a few of those fallen stars but probably not now as far as our cold temperatures go, we are limits to freeze warnings to advisories for really almost all the bay area, deeper blue being. those warnings were temperatures will fall into the upper 20's to low 30's. we're already seeing some of those numbers on the map right now. san jose and oakland at 37 degrees, redwood city at 32. well, dublin below freezing at 31 petaluma at 30 degrees right now in saint in the upper 20's outside of city limits in the north bay. as where you have your very coldest temps this morning, we're really similar at this point to where we were yesterday, which is right around freezing mark for a lot of the bay area. so just make sure that you've got those jackets ready to go, especially if you might spend an extra minute or 2 outside to catch one of the stars. yeah. i recommend going with rate them because the exciting it was just full of joy. and so, you know, growing

this is probably the last peak from your berkeley hills camera that you'll be able to see berkeley downer rushes in really clouds things up and obscures that view. very easy to see this cold front this morning. this line of yellow and orange that stretches from the central valley draping the north bay down into san francisco in just offshore. those showers are going to continue to push further in further inland throughout the course of the morning. and as that happens, more and more of us will tap into that heavier rainfall that some of you have yet to even see just yet. we just took a look at the bay bridge, but also the richmond center fell bridge, the golden gate bridge having seen some heavy rain and some really strong winds this making for a very wet commute across both of them, taking a little slower out there on a 101 through the north bay pockets of heavy rain, especially right here at the intersection of highway. 37 in one-on-one between nevado and center fell. we've got some really heavy areas of rain here. you know, 37 is subject to flooding a little bit of ponding of water w

we are seeing some pockets of heavy rainfall there on up into the east bay hills, oakland and berkeley hills, eventually up to concord, starting to calm down a little bit further to the north where you have been seeing heavy rainfall this morning in areas like novato starting to see a tempering down center fell. also little calmer and this rain is transirioning further and further to the southeast meeting for those of you in the south bay or even fremont that haven't today. heavy rain just yet. you're about to be seeing that rainfall intensity picking up here in a matter of a few minutes, you can actually see that occurring here in future cast those pockets of yellow and orange indicating your heavier rainfall shifting further and further south east. well, to the north and west, starting to dry out by midday today, everyone but the south bay starting that drying process and by the afternoon we're in for a cold, but at least dry afternoon, aside from a few isolated showers into the close of the day, current temps, you can see where the cold front is already swung through, holding on to 50's f

the pouring rain earlier, we got a chance to check out another beloved tradition up in the berkeley and orinda hills that kept chugging along despite the storm. the weekend storm didn't dampen this holiday tradition in tilden park, the redwood valley railway in orinda held its annual winterfest taking families on a scenic journey through the redwoods. steam trains wind through more than a mile of trees decorated with ornaments and twinkly lights. santa come through. the fog is so magical, especially with how the lights are in the trees, and it reflects on everybody. every time we go through the tunnel, everybody yells and you were like tunnel. so thank you. you're welcome this event which first started in 2014 is known to draw large crowds which spill into the parking lot. but this weekend, there were plenty of empty train cars. i think a lot of people are staying home because it's really freezing, but we like to get the trains out and run them anyway. ellen thompson, owner of the railway said they decided not to cancel this outdoor event because they love it. staff dressed in period costumes and fa
