oakland berkeley hills. been rocking this morning. 6450 for the city today.which is 5847. the record high 7519 4835, 1949 the record rain 2.35. way back in 1886. well, we might get a little bit of rain emphasis a little bit on this weekend. probably not enough to, you know, do much, but i still think we're in line for probably the third, driest january in san francisco's history, because right now we're in third place. and even if we picked up a couple one hundreds, it probably wouldn't change anything. the driest was only ten years ago, second driest 11. and we're in line for the third driest. when was the wettest? january 1862, when 24.36 fell. that was the great flood of 1862. still an east breeze or a northerly breeze for many. and that's going to translate into lots of warm temps by the time we get to about 2 or 3:00 today. i think we'll have some near 70, that's for sure. look at 18 degrees warmer half moon bay than yesterday at this time. double digits warmer. petaluma, novato, oakland's in there and palo alto as well. so i would look for upper 60s to

it's not only oakland, but berkeley hills, castro valley. between the hours of say sunrise and let's say 10:00 a.m. you can see the windsic be up in intensity over here. the rest of the day and it will stay windy and turn off completely. it is not terrible for most of us, but it will be the morning hours for the east bay communities on the downwind side of the east bay hills that might feel a little bit more. so be aware of that. then things will quiet down. remember, that will expire on tuesday at 10:00 a.m. there is one other element to discuss in the weather. let's get back to the virtual map because there is another area to color in on here. frost advisory for the next couple of mornings. if you look at the morning lows, you will be going down to the mid-30s for the inland east bay valleys. that's not worse in the north bay, but you would have your awareness level already elevated. you would have a cold morning this morning, and if there is any pets or plants that need to be taken care of. you're in that frame of mind. but for the east b

beautiful us from the berkeley hills. we are in a drought in much of the state's southern california, especially looking at severe to extreme drought and abnormal drought for central coast, the whole middle of the state and we will be in drought if we don't get any rain and soon we'll guess what we're getting. i wish we're getting some precipitation starting on friday morning. here's your saturday and is just day after day of rain. here's your sunday. it's not only rain for us. its an atmospheric river also bringing snow in the sierra nevada. we need the snow pack because we need that as a water source. also skiers, of course, love the fresh powder. and we're going to get a lot of it. really after monday, that forecast models are little bit uncertain. so you need to check back with us to fine tune this, but is a very thin atmosphere late rent river. so if it should go 100 miles this way or that way, that could make a big difference in terms of the numbers. here are some of the numbers. rainfall totals for saturday and the

this is the view from the berkeley hills right now looking just dry and clear. we have very calm and tranquil weather. although this morning we started out with the wind advisory. we had some very gusty winds, offshore winds and then they die down quickly. so the wind advisory was actually canceled. now, the winds are really fairly calm, still offshore. no doubt about that. that will continue overnight. but still, we do see at least below 9.10, miles per hour in many locations in terms of humidity because of all the rain we had, we still have fairly dry atmosphere. so the relative humidity, future humidity for tomorrow night, we're going to be at 49% and that that 39% in hayward. so it's not bone dry. unlike southern california, boy, did they have cold and dry dry conditions? and that is what is really fueling the fire. the winds combined with all the dry conditions and the dry tinder, dry vegetation, but not for us. this is the water vapor image. you can see a lot of moisture in the atmosphere, especially way north of us heading from the pacific all the way to

close to a half inch berkeley hills. just over a quarter inch.ose 11 hundredths and redwood city coming in at eight hundredths. now, when it comes to our rainfall season, we're still looking at this massive surplus up towards parts of the north bay santa rosa. so far this season, 25.60in of rain. that's 13.14in above normal. and that's why we saw those trees come down in guerneville. the ground for a lot of the north bay is just still so saturated. running a deficit here in oakland, livermore and also san jose. but we can still make up from that with additional storm systems this season coming up later on in the show. we'll take a look at some fog for your saturday morning, and we'll take you all the way into next week. i've got that forecast again in about 15 minutes. looking forward to it. thank you jeff. the storm is also dumping snow in the sierras. this a view from i-80 just past soda springs. the highway is closed going eastbound and it's pretty much looked like this all day. chp is dealing with spinouts and other issues all afternoon. high

i saw a few high thin wispy cirrus clouds in the sky and take a look at this view from the berkeley hillse sun shots went down and now we see all the yellows and oranges. and if you read it, thank you. absolute spectacular view for us. it's been really a beautiful day with temperatures just a little bit cooler than yesterday in some areas. here are the high temperatures cooler than normal. maybe 2 to 6 degrees cooler than you might expect on this date number. still in the 50's upper 50's into the 60's mid-sixties for half moon bay. 66 degrees. and in terms of the temperature change will 6 degrees cooler. then yesterday in santa rosa. so made most areas now statue down to 4. but most areas little cooler than again, san francisco up one degrees. so it's not much variation temperatures right now. 50's and 60's. and now that the sun has set, the temperatures will start to drop even more last night into this morning. it was really, really cold. and then we even had some frost advisories in effect because we had 32 degree temperatures overnight last night in napa and santa rosa and concord and

some 1000 thing happened to our camera in the berkeley hills and now it's a little catty want little different than our normal orientation. it is still twilight. the sun has set and it's beautiful. be still see. a few rays of sunlight. the headlines for us in the bay area. it's quiet. it's clear skies, it's dry air and not so dry of southern california, but it is dry enough to give us cool temperatures overnight. very weak, offshore flow of wind continues. it is so cool overnight and we have a frost advisory in effect. 01:00am to 09:00am on tuesday. that's tomorrow with gradual cooling in the afternoon highs as we come into the next weekend. so here are wind gusts. future wind gusts not terribly impressive. and last year in napa county or sonoma county, you see the reds and the purples there. that's where the strongest wind gusts are. as we go through time, you see, we say in this little blue area when definitely decidedly a northeasterly flow of wind from the land to the sea and very fairly calm, maybe less than 10 miles per hour in many areas. now tonight, there's a big temperature

looking from the berkeley hills, you still see some clouds out over the bay right now. rainfall yeah, not bad. almost a half an inch into santa rosa just under a 3rd in napa. just a little less than that in richmond, san francisco 18, 100's to tents in oakland and jult over a 10th of an inch of rain in san jose. but as i mentioned, this may be it. we're going to see major pattern change. and that's going to mean a big dome of high pressure for us and some very cold weather across other parts of the country. but here's that front moving through today, bringing lots of snow in the high country. they're more scattered showers on the backside. we've got a warm or band of moisture likely to move in a little bit later on this evening. but mostly dry out there right now. and that's the way likely stay as we head toward the weekend. winds yet been little blustery in spots. we've seen some pretty good breeze is out there as we head throughout the afternoon. some of those winds gusting to as high as 30 miles an hour or so. but now begin in the back office. that system continues t

beautiful weather from the berkeley hills towards san francisco today was really hot. temperatures soared well above seasonal averages. so typically be mainly in the mid to upper 50's. you see there in gray. we were in the mid 60's to low 70's and santa rosa at 72 was 15 degrees warmer than you expect this time of year. even now we're still in the 60's in many areas. how much warmer than yesterday at this hour, a whopping 16 degrees warmer in santa rosa. 17 degrees. warmer in livermore. 10 degrees. warmer hayward. so you get the idea. it's a lot warmer. wind gusts are really going strengthen overnight about 02:30am in the morning. i be the very strongest gust. and in some areas, even 50 mile an hour gusts. 45 to 55, depending on where you are in very highest elevations and then by sunrise tomorrow morning, those winds start to die down and looks like not much of the wind can concerned. once we get past that high winds. oh, yeah. there's a high wind advisory in effect till tomorrow except for the santa clara valley. i've got a lot more details coming up, including your

you take a look at the berkeley hills gazing west. you maybe a few low clouds, maybe some haze, same deal with santa's and looking at san jose state. maybe some haze in the background earlier this morning, there was a lot of yellow on this map which indicated only moderate air quality. but now it looks like it's cleared out. for the most part we're seeing more and more green. so that's good news. perhaps it's the wind that's helping to clear that out now compared to yesterday with the wind advisories and winds gusting up in the hills to 72 miles per hour today. it's a different day. very the winds, you know, maybe 14 miles per hour gust maximum. you see it's still offshore, start starting northerly and then got go in a bit more off shore. and that is enough. just to clear us out. so the main message is we have the clear skies, the same clear skies to give those cool mornings. it was cold this morning will be cold again tomorrow morning and into thursday. the same skies also give us warm afternoon. temperatures. so today, a little warm

here is a view from the berkeley hills looking west toward the sun.at shape temperature change. yes, it is. cooler. then it was yesterday, but not a whole lot. just by a few degrees. maybe 4 degrees cooler in santa rosa and in half moon bay. otherwise, pretty steady as she goes. look at these numbers. it's january early january. a lot of numbers today peaked in the 60's. well, sausalito, 59 degrees in fairfax. 51 the calistoga 62 in terms of the winds, not as gusty as we've been seeing the last number of days today. if you look at the gus is not terribly remarkable. but then look at this. what's this overnight? thursday morning, starting thursday morning into friday. look at this. a cooler start to increase. you start to see more magenta and again, we get a bit of a strengthening of the offshore flow, not as dramatic as we have seen before. now, looking for rain looking looking looking all the way through tuesday looks dry. so high pressure continues to reign. supreme and we will be a continued persistence forecast. they we get the same thing over and
